I hauled myself home half hour ago, unfortunately we have a mirror at the top of the stairs and I got a fright.

Admittedly the weekend was a very long food and drink, I haven't slept much, wasn't wearing makeup and had been rained on but I look awful. Really important meeting on Friday which I need to look like I'm not from the graveyard.

OK so bonuses are:

☆ I have some nice loose tea in
☆ couple of face masks
☆ can freeze a teaspoon for eyebags
☆ can afford salmon and watercress (Perricone diet)

I can't afford any special treatments this week. Anything else you can suggest? I really look awful at present.

Drinking water

Fairislefandango · 09/05/2023 18:36

Water, a bit of exercise and fresh air, no booze and minimal caffeine, plenty of sleep. I love loose tea, but I don't see what difference it's supposed to make to your appearance, especially by Friday Grin

Water, lots of sleep and as little sugar, caffeine and alcohol as you can get away with.

PollyPeptide · 09/05/2023 18:43

Sleep, water, skin hydrators and moisturiser.
Lightly tap and massage round your eyes to encourage lymphatic drainage.
One night sleep with deep conditioning hair treatment on.

I'm seeing a lot of messages about drinking more water, this is not always good advice as too much water can be serious. Go by the colour of your urine, if it's dark then you do need more, but it can be tea, coffee, squash or other non-alcoholic beverage.

If it's pale your hydrated, if it's clear you're over hydrated, have something like crisps to ramp up your sodium.

An evening in The Winchester.

Cornetto? 🍦

BriarHare · 09/05/2023 18:55

I’m another that doesn’t get the ‘drink more water’ thing. If I drink more water, I’m just going to the loo all day. On a typical work day, I might have one drink all day. My urine is never dark and my skin is always hydrated and never dry.

It’s not a panacea for everyone .

🤣

I'd go with making sure you're hydrated (not overly 😉) caught up on sleep, salmon and water cress sounds marvelous, maybe a multivitamin everyday too. Brisk walk and and shower before your meeting. If all else fails, make up!

Forfrigz · 09/05/2023 19:01

Hydrate properly which means not only water but sodium (probably won't need to add this as most people consume too much already) potassium and phosphorus.
Othet than that try doing a nice facial at home using some nice oil, gentle massage on your face and neck after deep cleansing. Plenty of sleep.

Augustone · 09/05/2023 19:09

I find tanning drops help get rid of the zombie like complexion and try to get as much sleep in as you can.

endofthecorridoor · 09/05/2023 19:14

Fake tan and Estée Lauder micro essence and tinted daywear moisturiser. Life savers

Diplidocus4 · 09/05/2023 19:31

Cold tea bags - as in have been brewed but not near milk .
One on each eye
For event - crack an egg and have white only as a face pack , tightens well !

CovetedAsFuck · 09/05/2023 19:33

Agree with everyone saying sleep will make a massive difference.

Have you got a skincare arsenal? Or any little samples lying around? Grin Deep (but not harsh) cleansing, gentle acids to exfoliate, some kind of hydrating plumping serum, bit of facial oil on top …

Snowite · 09/05/2023 19:35

I thought the perricone thing was salmon and melon? Maybe watermelon? Is it really watercress? Maybe that's why it never worked for me 😂

I am loving the crisps suggestion.

This is blowing my mind. I thought we all 'should' drink 2 litres of liquid a day in addition to tea/coffee.

Yes short deadline wasn't it 😁

I got such a fright when I walked upstairs and saw this ghoul rain drenched thing looking back at me in the mirror. The hyaluronic face masks have helped a bit. I am not a fan of coronation weekends anymore.

Coffee and tea are supposed to count towards your liquid intake? Although they're diuretic. Make you pee more, basically.
