How do you manage your wardrobe if you yo-yo between sizes?

I’m trying to sort out my clothes. I have so many and I’m fed up.

One of the reasons I have so many is I hate parting with items because I’ve put on weight or lost weight and they no longer fit. I’m a bit of a yo-yoer so it just feels impossible not to spend money on clothes when I invariably change sizes and then I don’t throw away old.

If I consistently stayed one size I’d absolutely invest in a capsule wardrobe but instead I’ve ended up with tonnes of clothes, most of which I rarely wear and don’t like much any more.

Any tips? Feeling completely lost with a pile of clothes on my bed ready to declutter. Don’t know where to start.

First off, pick out all the clothes that you really don’t like and donate.

The put the clothes that fit you now back in the wardrobe.

Then pack up the clothes that are too big or too small and donate. In reality you’ll probably never wear them again.

I am a classic yo yo’er between a size 10 and a size 14. I currently have a suitcase of size 10 clothes on top of my wardrobe and a vacuum pack parcel of size 14s under my bed. The wardrobe has size 12s which all currently fit. I shop to fill in gaps at the size I currently am when I identify them.

I'm exactly the same. I yo-yo from a 10 to a 14. I've just sold/charity shopped all my 10s because since I've started HRT 2 years ago I seem to be stuck at a large 12 Sad

Dresses are your friend because they are more forgiving than trousers as you yo-yo between sizes.

Put away any clothes that don’t fit, out of sight out of mind and all that.
Create some outfits that suit your lifestyle with the clothes that do fit.
See if you have any gaps and buy those items, for example a new blazer could be worn with XYZ.
Don’t but expensive clothes.
