So I have so many clothes to sell as I have lost 8 stone over the past year, some of the clothes have only been worn a few times.

Anyway, there are lots of choices for posting and I remember a thread about which postage to use but I can't find it.

So which postage should I choose?

Anything I need to be aware of, protocol or etiquette?

Rather than choose postage methods do the opposite and in your profile settings decline the carriers that aren’t available or are unsuitable to you
(Profile, settings, postage)
Note that if a buyer picks Royal Mail then you buy postage which can often cost a bit more than you get paid depending on weight specifics)

Then with each individual item you choose from a small/medium/large option. The Vinted app will pick a recommended default package size depending on the category and type of item, but if you click ‘see sizing and compensation details’ then you can get the specifics of package size & weight limits for each of the small/medium/large

Thank you, that's what I meant about postage, so which ones should I unclick?

I only use evri and yodel as I can print in store using a qr code. Plus these are right by my work so easier for me.

Don't use inpost so many people have issues and in my experience there's rarely spare lockers so a nightmare to post!

Cyclingmummy1 · 08/05/2023 17:22

I tend to err on the generous side with postage so will 'size up'. I had a glass bottle of bath oil which weighed nearly 1kg, for example, but vinted suggested 'small'.

Keep any packaging/small boxes you get to reduce your packaging costs. I wrap in tissue first, but that's just me.

Try pricing a pound or two over what you want so are open to offers.

I've found putting a few things on every week has kept my sales ticking over.

Hope you sell lots!

I leave on everything but Royal Mail.
Personally RM is a bit easier for me, but they do have tighter size/weight restrictions than the carriers so I could be taking a hit with extra costs or I’d need to over specify couriers

Quite a few complain about InPost but I haven’t had problems with the one or two Ive had.
The majority of mine have gone through Evri

I also stockpile packaging, friends have shops so I can always get any cardboard I want from their deliveries, and bubble wrap or shredded card stuffing is usually available.

I have bought in some large letter boxes, and also keep a good stock of bin bags and tape for final wrapping

Ducatifan · 08/05/2023 19:17

I don’t have time for the post office so I use evri. I like how I can scan and print a label in store so I am not using my own printer. Plus I can drop off before and after work rather than having to go at lunchtime.

Pringleface · 08/05/2023 19:37

I took RM off my options so it’s InPost, Evri or Yodel. Be aware that not all Evri shops offer label printing. My local one says it does on the website but the owner says Evri removed it.

Congratulations on losing the weight op! What an achievement

If you are selling lots bought 50 bags from eBay 10"x14 for about £4 and pretty much everything fits in this. I also bought clear documents enclosed stick pockets for the labels but now you can print instore it not essential- although if you are doing lots it's easier to print at home if you have a printer. Less chance of error. I splashed out on some pretty mail bags today! Rather than grey

I no longer offer Royal Mail due to pricing and office hours. I ended up out of pocket too many times

In post isn't realisable but still offer it.

I sold 12 items this weekend and made £66

If doing print in store Get a sharpie and write in the name and item.

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 08/05/2023 21:28

Thank you so much, I have loads to sell

You know when you buy stuff but won't try it on the the changing rooms get it home it didn't fit so never worn, loads of that.

Then I lost weight and went past those sizes..

I've found the beginning of the month and bank holiday weekends to be good for sales. I sold three items and two bundles this weekend. And don't get despondent; one of my items had been up for 2-3 months.

The postage on Vinted (except RM) is by parcel size not weight so if you have a bottle that’s a small package even if it’s 1L. I’ve sold 100’s of items on Vinted and depends what your local options are - I’m central london so InPost/ Yodel/ Evri are all good for me as lots of local drop off and lockers available

The options are given by weight on my app. You choose a weight which must fit inside a certain dimension.

I have only left on the evri shipping, everything else I unticked. There’s an evri drop off point about 50 steps from my house, it’s at the beginning of my daily lunchtime walk and I usually have something to post.
I print the labels there at the shop and stick them on. It’s so so simple. I bought a load of grey mailing bags from Amazon and write small in a sharpie on each one what’s inside (when there’s more than one parcel) so I stick the right label on the right parcel.
I tend to list one or two things most days, and I’m selling one or two things most days too.
I’ve made about £300 in just over 2 weeks, it’s been a good way to shift excess things!

EasterIssland · 09/05/2023 22:12

check which one is closer to you or more convenient and enable those and untick the rest. I’ve got the 3 of them or only 1 enabled depending what my week looks like (If I go to the office or have got gym as yodel and I post are nearby to these)

Fair enough, I’ve never sold anything heavy so not been an issue for me. But you are right - check on the app postage description first 😊

Size & weight.
Though the summary shows small/medium/large if you click on ‘see sizing & compensation details’ you get the details for the options that will be listed

e.g. here the dimensions don’t change for couriers but the weight limits do:
small allows for 500g medium for 1kg and large for 2kg
