White shirt for beach/pool cover up.

Hi,
After reading many threads on here it would seem that a long(ish) white shirt may be just what I need to wear as a beach/pool cover up over swim wear.
We're heading somewhere hot so I'm thinking linen or cotton would be the best material.
Has anyone bought one recently that they'd recommend?
Thanks

I bought one in Zara the other day for exactly this purpose, they had a few different styles all around the £25-£30 mark. I think this is the one I got - it’s a little bit stiffer round the collar than I would’ve liked but I think that’ll soften with wear, and actually has meant that it looks nice with summer trousers in the evenings too. They had some other more beachy ones in stock as well, worth a look.

Good linen ones in Uniqlo at the moment. I’ve gone for blue not white though cos of the inevitable sun lotion staining.

Also, M&S have a really good selection in their swimsuit section. Lovely shape, variety of colours. Light cotton.

And I am not normally a fan of M&S clothes.

Only problem I've found with white shirts as a beach cover up is yellowing from sun tan lotion

Seafolly used to sell this beach boyfriend shirt (with pockets on sides)- I have one in white. Not sure if it is in their collection at present.

Dont get white - the combination of sun cream, sand, dripping drinks / ice cream will make for a grubby looking top after 1 day!

VintageThoughts · 07/05/2023 19:44

I've stopped buying white cover ups because of sun cream stains.

I bought this in the COS sale a few weeks ago, cotton and silk, it’s gorgeous and i plan to use as a summer cover up/ throw on too. No idea why the model looks so grumpy 😃

Agree - men's section for extra length.

Thank you all very much for the suggestions, I'll have a look. I hadn't actually thought about the suncream/staining aspect on white but after years of trying to find a decent cover up, I'm willing to take a chance 😉
