Anyone seen any knee length summer skirts this year?

My perfect summer skirt is knee length, fitted from the waist to hips then flares out and is full enough to cover my legs sitting cross legged on the grass. It’s also long enough so that I don’t have a bare skin sticking to plastic seat issue when it’s hot.

All I’ve seen are minis and maxis. A lovely MNer found me a perfect skirt a couple of years ago, and I lived in it last summer, but I’d like a spare!

Seasalt might have what you're looking for. I know they're not to everyone's taste, but I like their plainer items.

Try second hand shops.

This length was pretty ubiquitous until only a few years ago, so there's bound to be some still knocking around, even if yours have all worn out.

Romans Originals and Cotton Traders would be worth a look as both have several styles that length

Shortening a skirt to knee length is incredibly easy.

Or if you have one you love, take it to a seamstress and get it copied in a couple of different fabrics. I can see and this is what I do if I find something I love that's not necessarily in fashion so not readily available.

No one will notice you're wearing the same skirt in a different fabric!

Seasalt and Roman Originals don’t have anything full enough in the right length, but a few near misses. I’ll keep an eye on them as they’re not somewhere I usually shop. Cotton traders was all midis, and didn’t look like any of them would work if taken up.

I will keep an eye out in charity shops but I don’t have much time for browsing at the moment. And my sewing is awful, so that’s not an option. I used to use a local guy who did proper measurements and alterations, but unfortunately his business went under during covid and I haven’t found a replacement.

Monki has some nice mid length full cotton skirts

There are a few on the Hobbs website which match the shape you have described but they are in fairly drab patterns!

ZillionDayStreak · 07/05/2023 20:18

Couldn’t see anything knee length in Monki but this one on Hobbs is the perfect shape, just a shame it’s not a plain colour as I don’t like the pattern much.
