Silicone and sulfate free purple shampoo???

givemecoffeenow · 05/05/2023 16:52

decided to stop using any products with silicone or sulfates in my hair. My hair However is bleached blonde and I could do with a purple shampoo to use now and then to freshen up the colour.

Anyone know of a good one? I’m really struggling to find one 😓

I use Daddy-O from Lush

givemecoffeenow · 05/05/2023 22:43

Thanks, I will have a look at that online, I don’t have a lush in my town so might have to order it… Maybe I will treat myself to some bath bombs too 😁

I use Daddy-O from Lush

This is not sulphate free.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 05/05/2023 22:49

I use Osmo purple shampoo but that's only sulphate free, it does have silicone in.

maidmarianne · 05/05/2023 22:57

Instead of purple shampoo, just add some shrine drops in purple to your silicone free conditioner? They make toner drops too that are good for blonde hair. It doesn't work as well as with conditioner but you could add the colour to your shampoo instead

givemecoffeenow · 05/05/2023 23:11

Ah yeah the lush one isn’t any good then.🙃

@CeeceeBloomingdale Shampoo that’s sulfate free shouldn’t really have silicones in the ingredients. It will eventually cause build up without the sulfate to wash away silicones in the shampoo…

@maidmarianne I haven’t heard of shrine drops before… Is it a toner or some kind of purple pigment to add to the shampoo?

It’s so frustrating trying to find products without silicone, I’m also struggling to find a heat protection spray that isn’t full of nasty silicones 🤦‍♀️

I'm only 90% sure so please do double check, but I think Fanola and Aveda are both OK.

Ifionlyknewthenwhatiknownow3 · 05/05/2023 23:22

Have a look at the ingredients in Klorane's anti yellowing shampoo with Centaury. I can't see any silicone but not sure how sulphates are listed ( is anything with an 'ate' at the end a sulphate ? )

They're a bit like food colouring - concentrated colours and you add a few drops to conditioner. They do colours and toners, I'm not entirely sure what the difference is! I've never mixed them with shampoo, the instructions say it wouldn't work as well, but if it's just for a gentle hint of colour to remove brassiness then I imagine it would work fine

It doesn't bother me tbh. I used to be silicone free but found there is little on the market and my old brand got discontinued.

I only use purple shampoo now and then and use it on dry hair then follow with a normal shampoo so it works for me.

Just out of interest why do you want silicone and sulphate free?

SofiaAmes · 06/05/2023 06:45

Fanola Vegan no yellow shampoo and conditioner (mask) are sulfate and silicone free.

Note: I have only used the original version which is NOT sulfate free, but works wonderfully.

Nasty silicones? Who told you that?

RK800 · 06/05/2023 06:52

I loved Amika's Bust Your Brass Shampoo (not sure it’s silicone free though) but it’s about £23 a bottle, I can’t seem to justify spending that amount on a shampoo anymore.

givemecoffeenow · 06/05/2023 08:37

Sulphates really dry out my hair (I have curly hair), and silicones are just bad for the hair. The only thing that can remove them is a sulphate shampoo. So if left on the hair they cause build up of product on the hair over time. The silicones also coat the hair strands but don’t actually have any moisture or nourishment for the hair and will block any other good ingredients from soaking into the hair strands. So even though they make your hair feel smoother temporarily, in the long term they can actually dry out the hair even more. I did a lot of research when I was trying to tame my curly hair lol.

The texture of my hair has improved massively since cutting these ingredients from my hair routine. I use only curls.

However would love to find a purple shampoo to use now and then to brighten the colour.

Kevin Murphy purple shampoo here, he's billed as all natural but you'd have to double check.

I’m wary of touch of silver, I tried the original version ages ago and it dried out my hair like nothing else … Although that was the one with sulphates so maybe the sulphate free one might be ok?

Aveda blonde Revival

Davines alchemic silver shampoo

Maria Nila sheer silver shampoo

Klorane anti-yellowing shampoo (I think)
