I wish I suited men's clothes because everything is just so ugly

I honestly dont like anything I am finding anywhere right now for women. Everything is awful and badly made, and in my experience the higher the price-point the the less flattering most of the cuts are!

I still see a lot of men's stuff, particularly outdoors clothes that look great, from fabric details to fit. It is so depressing. Unfortunately at 5'4 and on the thinner side I look ridiculous in men's clothes. I would ask for advice but I have been everywhere and tried everything at this point. Even a cheapo dress or knit from the 90's is better quality than John Lewis now:(

But it isn't just quality that has gone off the rails, it is also the cuts. I tried a cotton/ethical blah blah dress at M&S yesterday, and whilst the pattern was ok the cut was dreadful. The seams were twisted and the neck lopsided, the fabric felt stiff and hung badly. And this was £50.

If I look for cuts that aren't stodgy and bulky I just find evening wear or youth stuff that is clubwear or revealing.

My biggest gripe is that nothing seems cut nicely now, no gently shaped necklines or attention to subtle detail, just thick edged high one necks, even for summer, with ribbing Confused, everything is boxy and with wide arm holes that make most people look like a solid block.
If a decent scoop neck comes in stock somewhere it sells out in 5 mins, surprise!

Trying to find a fine scoop neck top has been impossible. I always loved Finisterre for their quality but the cuts are getting worse over time. I know it's subjective but everything new in is just so huge and ugly. So even when I search for ethical, well made stuff, it is overtly masculine or ugly. This stuff is ok on men as they are generally much taller and wider than me, and don't have any curves.
I can't see anyone of any bodyshape suiting this stuff, as the broad selection of diverse models on these sites don't either!

I just wondered if anyone else is sick of it all and about to give up? I'm ok in my yoga stuff for now but dreading the hot weather. If you have given up with new stuff, what is your method? Anyone gone completely second hand?

A few example pics of the stuff coming out for summer, there is so much bulk and elastic now at the better quality stores.

Yes I agree - who suits those high necks? There are much more flattering necklines.

Same for sleeves - unflattering dropped shoulders everywhere and either puff sleeves with naff elastic or massive.

Summer is all about tiny straps that aren’t bra-friendly and huge maxi lengths for people on stilts.

And horrible lurid colours and patterns. Cheap fabric.

Ugh - unless you pay top dollar or drop lucky on Vinted forget it :-(

Sorry to rabbit on but I remembered another thing!

I was after a slinky slip dress in a fine material with thin straps, crawled the entire market and found one in Primark, awful quality but free of elastic bulk!

The only other cut that suited me was a summer tie back dress at H&M, the cut was subtle and flowed nicely but again awful fabric. I am wondering why higher pricepoint, more ethical stores are so bulky and square in comparison?
