REISS velvet dress - I’ve never worn velvet before - help

Evening event in September - will I be too hot? Worried I will feel suffocated because of the cut.

Also maybe black / metallic shoes would be better but if I pair with the ones attached just to add colour, will that be too much? I heard velvet needs to be the centre of attention.

Dress is gorgeous! Personally I would pair it with neutral accessories. Those colours will ruin the overall effect (and I say that as someone who loves bright colours).

I love black velvet, but I get mega sweaty in it and end up having to go outside for a cool down.

Beautiful dress. Wear neutral (metallic etc.) shoes, drop the bright bag (it's a day bag anyway). Use a tiny clutch in the same finish as the shoes or dress if you must have a bag at all. Don't suppose the dress has a tiny pocket for a tissue/lipstick?

I'd go metallic shoes and matching jewellery. Not shiny metal. Fab hair, maybe red lipstick

I think the first dress is much nicer

The velvet dress is much much nicer than the long-sleeved one. Even if you are rake thin, the long-sleeved one will still look a bit museum guide-ish.

The 1st dress definitely, but agree with previous posters that accessories need to be more subtle, at least a single colour, though statement earrings might work if you want to add more interest.

First dress is stunning. Not keen on the colourful accessories though. Needs to be something more subtle and sophisticated.

First dress with gold or silver shoes and bag (as with the other posters, anything metallic - rose gold would be nice as well). You’ll look like a liquorice allsort with the blue bag and pink shoes…

Stand out by looking fabulous, not by making everyone think , "Why on Earth has she gone with that bag?" 😉

Those accessories are for a Cotswold wedding, not an evening do. It would be a crime to ruin an amazing dress with them. I agree with a PP that statement earrings would be a much better way to stand out.
