I've just purchased some Molton Brown handwash , which was about £22 for 300ml which is ok but imo not worth the £22 . I've got some Faith in Nature coming today ( Amazon ) so don't know what it's like yet.
Interested in finding out what your favourites are , which fragrance and why you like it ? Thank you .

Does the Diptyque last? I adore their fragrances but it’s very hard to justify their prices for handwash.

I was thinking of putting it in the posh loo so the kids can't get at it

Diptyque.

Not the one with exfoliating bits in, the comforting hand wash one. Makes you feel like you’re in a 5 star hotel every time you wash your hands. All our guests comment on it!

It gave me a rash on my hands :(

I did not know Nesti Dante did liquid soap!

I usually pick up bars when I'm in TKMaxx for the shower ( currently using the wonderfully titled 'Emozioni in Toscana Villages and Monasteries' which smells a bit like Cire Trudon Carmelite candle - all mossy and cool.)

I'm using the thermal waters one from that range and it's lovely. Hard to describe the scent but it's addictive

@RuthTopp No specific recommendations really other than to say there is a nice whisky and honey one sold by a cafe/ ice cream place in Edinburgh (Gladstone’s Land) is lovely. I would say consider taking a trip to TK Maxx and browsing all of the hand soaps in there.

Soapsmiths have gorgeous glass
bottles and smell wonderful

Georgieporgie29 · 04/05/2023 12:48

Bath and bodyworks foaming hand wash from next

Heroicallyfound · 04/05/2023 12:55

Sanctuary handwash - it’s an orange liquid soap sold in Boots, Sainsbury’s, Amazon - nice alternative to Molton Brown as it has a lovely lasting non-fruity scent (I can’t abide fruit in a washing product!) and it’s only about £6 a bottle

RuthTopp · 04/05/2023 13:17

@rejectedprincess

I have a fear of glass containers near bathroom basins , from a memory as a child of something falling in the basin , smashing and chipping the basin, sending my Dad into a tizzy of who did it !

Method botanical garden, it's lovely! Pleases me every time I wash my hands 😀

I love the smell of this. I use bars of soap most of the time but I use this in the kitchen .
I also love the Aesop hand wash but it is v expensive.

I am using this too. Heavenly.

Scottish Fine Soaps have some nice ones. They're a bit like Molton Brown — they have that 'thick' feel — but are less expensive as a rule. The Au Lait range is especially nice and I also like the Silver Buckthorn, mainly because it reminds me of a stay in a hotel where they used it as the in-room toiletries.

The M&S Fragrance Society and Apothecary ones are pretty good (I think Fragrance Society are dupes of Molton Brown anyway).

I also like liquid Marseille soap; I get it from a French supplier.

I've also been known to use Original Source shower gel in a ceramic pump dispenser as handwash; it works quite well and the stuff is cheap. The Sea Salt and Samphire one especially has a nice scent and isn't too overpowering.

2nd the Scottish Fine Soaps - I love the Sea Kelp one, smells lovely and helps my super rough hands!

Inkypinkee · 04/05/2023 13:28

I also like the Baylis and Harding liquid soaps, they smell great and also are not tested on animals. I know MN doesnt like this brand but the hand soaps are great and cheap.

I like the sweet mandarin and grapefruit.

faith in nature dragon fruit is also lovely!

Dr Bronner's sugar soap

It's completely free of SLS, parabens etc, its bottle is covered in weird tiny writing and it looks and feels like caramel! I like the spearmint peppermint flavour.

ORGANIC PUMP SOAPS

Fair trade & organic sugar plus organic white grape juice keeps hands-face-body-hair clean & nourished

I always get one of the bargain big bottles from TK Maxx - not the same one each time but something that looks luxurious and smells nice

LudicrouslyCapaciousBag · 04/05/2023 14:42

Another vote for M&S Apothecary. I was given a bottle of Aesop a few years ago and it was lovely but the bottle has only ever been refilled with M&S!

Jijithecat · 04/05/2023 14:49

I like the lavender and geranium Faith in Nature. I don't like the smell of lavender on it's own but the geranium balances it out nicely.
I have sensitive skin which gets dried out by most hand wash but I've never had an issue with Faith in Nature.

KnackeredBack · 04/05/2023 15:02

Noble Isle Rhubarb Rhubarb. £24 and worth every penny, if you're looking in that range.

Saisong · 04/05/2023 15:08

I rather like the Bayliss & Harding ginseng and black pepper soap. Happy to go cheap on something I'm washing down the drain, it smells lovely on the way down!

Caspianberg · 04/05/2023 15:14

L’occtaine - the shea one. They have regular bags also which are cheaper and I buy the solid bar versions for in our en-suite and upstairs bathroom. It’s the only one that doesn’t dry my skin out

Rebootnecessary · 04/05/2023 15:35

Another vote for the M&S Apothecary range, they're really lovely.

SandySalmon · 13/05/2024 15:07

A little late to the party here, though I'd thoroughly recommend Self (ish) Company after having tried tonnes of hand washes over the years!

The handwash is £22, and contains essential oils and hemp which leaves hands feeling silky smooth and smelling fresh (I've always had a problem with soaps leaving my hands dry).

It is supplied in glass bottles which are smart looking & refillable.

Luxury Hand Wash & Hand Lotion | Self (ish) Company

Wave goodbye to dry hands with our essential oil-enriched hand wash & hand lotion. Stylishly supplied in luxurious 375ml glass bottles with pump dispensers.

Another one loving the M&S Apothecary Range - we like Calm in our house. Like the fact you can get a refill bag for it. Also really like Aldi Lacura Orange and Bergamot. Smells similar to the Milton Brown one, but not as spendy. I do love Le Petit Marseilles hand washes but have yet to find a website that sells them that doesn't charge high postage so I wait until my brother goes to France and get him to stock up for me.
