Are these shoes ok for a job interview?

I'm looking for some shoes to wear for a job interview with a navy midi length dress and dark red jacket. They need to be flat, with an enclosed toe. The job is a research technician in a university lab, if that makes a difference!

Ideally I'd also like to be able to wear them for more casual things too - as a summer shoe to wear with dresses/cropped jeans etc that's slightly smarter than my Birkenstocks.

I'm a very casual dresser (ie scruffy!) which is fine for lab work but makes interview dressing challenging. I also tend to like quirky (verging on ugly) shoes - but perhaps shouldn't lean into this for interviews...

I'd love to see any suggestions if these aren't suitable/are too hideous!

I think they're fine. I interview job applicants.

Not sure about the lab you're in, but in my experience enclosed toes meant the rest of the top of the foot too (this might be specific to my experience though!) so might be worth considering that just in case too 😊

I'd probably go with something else if I'm honest. I tend to go really bland for interviews

I really like those shoes, and I think they'll look good with your outfit.
Do you mind me asking where they are from?
I've got a tendon injury and won't be able to wear strappy sandals this summer, those look ideal.

Thanks both. I don't think they'd be suitable for lab work - but I'll just wear trainers if I'm actually offered the job.

I've been a sahm for a couple of years, so I'm a bit rusty. Think I'm worrying about shoes as a displacement activity!

For the interview yes, for work, no.

Good luck with the interview.

I wouldn't wear those to a interview personally. Also I would have thought for safety in the lab it would be a full shoe, not with the gaps.

They're El Naturalista @Quinque , I think from a previous season (bnib from ebay!) but they do lots of similar styles and are usually very comfortable and well made.

Yes I meant fine for the interview but if work needs fully enclosed, no.

I wouldn't wear those to a interview personally. Neither would I , personally, but that doesn't make them inappropriate for an interview.
