Postpartum hair loss and highlights

I'm 13 weeks pp and in the middle of the hair loss phase. I hate the way I look right now. When breastfeeding, the weight just doesn't come off me so I'd like to concentrate on what I can improve right now.

I'd like to get my hair done again (full head of blonde highlights) but I'm not sure if this is wise during post-partum hair loss?
Should I just accept looking dreadful for a few more months or can I get my hair done?

Thanks all

I had a lot of pp hair loss, to the point I had blood tests to see if it was anaemia. It wasn't.

I have a full head of blonde highlights and everything is fine. In months to come you will get annoying baby hairs but it's growing back. Go for it

Thank you! I wasn't sure if it would be wise getting it done while I'm losing so much hair

when does pp hair loss start / end? I’m 9 weeks pp!

TheCutter · 30/04/2023 19:26

@Newmay Mine started around 2 months pp. DS is now 13 and a bit weeks and it's just falling out constantly and all over the house and my family😅 it's meant to peak at 4 months.
I'm pretty sure with ds1, it lasted a few months but by 6 months pp had stopped or slowed. Can't fully remember though

You can but personally I'd wait and maybe just have a trim instead

I'm sorry, this is the worst. When I went to get my hair done first time post partum I asked the hairdresser about this as it was the worst point hair loss wise. I have balayage so it's not quite the same but she just did it relatively subtly and avoided dying the bits right at the front of my hair which were falling out worst (whereas previously I would colour these bits). And gave me some tips about looking after my hair! 3 years later and I still have short hair bits at the front of my hair.

Definitely get your hair cut anyway and just speak to the hairdresser before you start - it was a crappy time for me self-esteem wise and having my hair done made me feel better. I'm about to have baby number 2 so something to look forward to again! My hair is not the strongest though anyway so that's probably why the front didn't recover that well. I've found both times Ive been pregnant my hair has been in better condition but with a huge increase in the volume of greys. What joy 🤣
