Smart wide leg trousers with a belly

Really struggling to find wide leg trousers that work with my tummy. I’m a tall hourglass. Don’t want the legs to be super wide. Ordered £1000 worth of trousers from John Lewis and they’re all hideous. I’m comfortably a 16 in everything else but had to go to 18 just to get them to fasten and then end up with loads of spare fabric under my belly.

Any ideas of non-jersey trousers with some stretch that might work better?

I carry all my weight right in my middle where a high waist would fasten. I too have bought and sent back a lot of clothes recently. These are all on Next. First ones look denim but they are a lovely light weight material and a good fit at the waist. The second linen ones look good so far. Hope they don’t go all floppy given they are a linen mix and the third pair are just lovely. They are quite wide leg but fit amazing at the waist. I nearly didn’t put them on as they looked so big on the leg.
