What do you wear under V-neck cardi?

I'm updating my work wardrobe (smart-casual) and really like those v-neck cropped cardis that seem to be everywhere (at least where I live). But I never know what you're supposed to wear under them. I see them styled like there's nothing underneath, but then you'd need to wash them all the time. What do other people do?

Scoop neck t shirt or a vest top.

Yes, depending on the cardi. You could get a wide, deep v top to go underneath if you want the look of nothing underneath.

Vests or camis that have a straight/square neckline look neat too.
