Dreadful fringe, what to do

My stylist has given me a horrible fringe- all sorts of mullet-y bits, a length you can't do anything with, I really don't like it at all. I can clip it back kind of under my hair (the rest is all one length) but need to decide a plan. WWYD?

  1. Call and go back - I do like the stylist, who I've been to maybe 4 or 5 times, but now dont fully trust them
  2. go somewhere new and see if anything can be salvaged
  3. wait and grow it, then go somewhere new (or the the original stylist) in a month or two?

Can you post a picture so we can see the length etc?

for me it depends on why it went wrong. I left a stylist after I disliked my hair because I felt he hadn't really listened to what I wanted, if it had been a miscommunication or a mistake I probably wouldn't have done.

Most good stylists will want the chance to fix it, and might even do so for free. If this stylist is otherwise great and you have been happy before, then I would have chat and say you don't like it and get them to explain your options.

When you say 'mullety bits' do you mean it's been cut too short and too far towards your ears?

I find a lot of hairdressers will do this if you're not very specific about what you want.

I'm very protective of my fringe after having that experience, and extremely specific about what I want the hairdresser to do with it (leaving longer bits at the sides, rounded shape, cutting into it so not too blunt). I keep a careful eye as it's being cut!

So what did you ask them for? You do have to be quite direct, it was a learning curve for me having a fringe as there are so many different ways to cut them.

Not sure how they'll fix it if it's mullety

Thanks everyone. Yes I've learned from this and will be detailed next time, or may just grow it out! I think you're right, the stylist probably would want to try and put it right, maybe I'll call them. I mustn't have explained clearly enough what I wanted. On the other hand, maybe I'll wait a bit and let it grow.
