How to style straight leg jeans?

I live in skinny jeans but thought I’d better try to keep up with current fashion. Couldn’t quite get my head around wide leg without feeling like a teenager again (I’m mid thirties) so went for a pair of straight leg jeans. They fit me really well but I can’t seem to wear them without feeling a bit…. Masculine l guess?

I tend to wear loose fitted tshirts and jumpers, but they are clearly not working with the straight jeans. All the models seem to wear them with crop tops and heels which looks amazing on them, but I’m not comfortable in either crop tops or heels. Skinnies work for my casual style but the wider legged jeans don’t. Should I just stick to skinnies? Or any suggestions how to style without looking like a teenage grunge kid? Just for every day wear.

the ones I bought are similar to these, and I honestly love the fit on me so I want to make them work. I’m about a size 10

I wear mine with a Breton top, pussy bow blouse, silk shirt tucked in and like to wear them with a boucle jacket too. I wear them with converse. Check out Pinterest for more ideas.

I just wear mine with a t-shirt, which probably is a little manly 😬. I'm at peace with it though.

Sometimes I tuck in at the front if it's a longer top

I have this same issue and just tried with hi-top converse today and weirdly they look more feminine! Maybe as the shoes are quite slim. Wore them with a slim fitting long sleeved top and seemed to work well!

Ohhh I have a couple pairs of Hi tops I haven’t worn for a while, will get them back out and have a go!

I think it's about defining your waist so tucking in tops or slightly shorter (not crop) ones. That stops the look being masculine and too big/baggy all over.

If you need to buy new Stuff just to make something like a pair of jeans look right, then those jeans are possibly not the right purchase.

Think style, not fashopn (and certainly not fast fashion).

Remember the "death of the skinny" has been the mantra of those who are trying to sell us more clothes for about a decade now, and it's not worked (skinnies are still something like 60% of sales)

That said, if you love the shape, then going back in to your wardrobe and getting out things like your converse is good.

And you can alter your tops to make them narrower or shorter (or take then to dry-cleaner that does alterations)

If you just tuck in wide/long tops, you'll get bunching of fabric in your midsection, which can make you look lumpy

Agree with the shorter tops as well. I can't wear my longer ones with straight jeans unless I tuck them. Shorter ones look better.

Agree you can't tuck a long tunic style top though - but I wouldn't wear one of those myself anyway, except to sleep in. I am too booby for that look
