Hair colouring virgin at 44....

After my haircut today I booked a half head of highlights for the week after next - at 44 my grey hairs are getting harder to ignore. Simple question (should have asked hairdresser but these things only occur later) - I'm off on holiday for the week on Sunday so can I use anything to colour my hair for the next week or will it affect my highlights?

i wouldnt really use anything as it can affect your highltes and as a hairdresser there is nothing worse than having to colour over old color as the result is never gauranteed
and also colour wont lift colour so if you put anything on then she will have to do bleach hilights rather than colour ones as only the bleach will shift the colour you have put on !could you not get booked in for tomorrow ?
did i make sense !
or if you really want to put something on just use a wash in wash out colour - red ,black ,dark browns are the hardest to colour over

Thanks - I'll put up with it for another week. I guessed that would be the answer. Couldn't book for today as she did a skin test - as I'm allergic to a few skin products seemed the sensible approach!
