Denim midi - who does it suit? How to style?

Got 2 denim skirts on ebay. I like the idea of it but in reality I'm not sure if it just makes me look bigger. It's just a lot of fabric. I'm only short and size 14-16. I don't know whether it just needs to go back on ebay.

Is it the shape? A line button through very wide looking vs slimmer fit slightly longer, though this has no pockets on the backside and somehow it looks weird!
Not sure if I'm overthinking it, it's a fine line to getting it wrong though isn't it!

It depends on your body shape. I quite like a midi straight skirt.
I think if you are short it helps to draw attention upwards. I like one-piece outfits like a pinafore or dungarees.

You aren't happy with your purchases, return them or re-sell them

I always associate them with Jehovah's Witnesses.

Can you post a picture?

I am a bit of a chunker ATM if I'm honest, but even when slimmer I couldn't get these to work for me! I'm tall as well, so I don't think it's that. I have always struggled with my tummy area and more so since having babies, so it may be that?

I bought a denim pinafore. Felt like a giant toddler in it.

I have spent a while looking at these (online) and concluded I just don’t like the look. I think they look frumpy, even when on fashion blogs, Insta etc

Yep, I see bloggers and women IRL looking cool and stylish in them, but whenever I try one on I look like I should be handing out copies of Watchtower outside the tube station.

@MysweetAudrina , there are different styles, I don't think a toddler would wear a long slip dress in a lightweight denim or chambray over a jersey top .

Justkoko · 19/04/2023 20:37

Not sure if you have to have a flattish rear. I don't and the straighter one kind of clings and looks odd. Not flattering. Like it interrupts the line of the skirt. Therefore the skirt is wearing me and not the other way round!
The aline just makes my outline wider and wider like it's a cardboard skirt!

I so wanted it to work too. To be my jeans of skirts.

I find that denim skirts always make peoples bum look flatter and wider. I like the idea of a denim midi but I don't think it would be the best look on me,
