Does anyone have a Dancing Leopard Dove Dress?

I'm going to a day time event next month and like the look of this dress.

Does anyone have it? Can you advise on size / quality / fit?

I'm 12-14 so would order both but it's quite a formal event and I don't want the dress to look cheap or shit.

A work colloeague has one and looked absolutely stunning in it. She is about 6ft tall and I would guess is a size 16. She looked so elegant.

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 19/04/2023 21:35

I’ve got one (actually two now) and I’m a 5ft 3” and size 18. I’ve been stopped in the street to compliment the dress. I like how it can be dressed up and down. I’d say it’s true to size but if in doubt I’d go bigger as the belt pulls it in and I hate gaping buttons, especially when you sit down.

I wouldn’t say the fabric is amazing but it has a nice weight and can be dressed up or down.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 19/04/2023 21:45

I have about 4 of them. Really flattering and I always get compliments too. I'm between a 12 and 14 too and opted for a 12 but did have to see a little popper between two of the buttons as I'm very busty. I did try the 14 but felt it swamped me and the belt didn't pull it in enough for me.

I've got a couple similar to this from Next - a brand called Love & Roses. I'm 5ft 4 and went for the petite length. Generous sizing too

Lovely style - but is recycled polyester really any better than polyester? Isn’t it going to be just as sweaty?

Allthefoodandwine · 19/04/2023 21:58

I've ordered 2 and sent them back.
The material was very cheap looking, also very clingy.
The belt for me sat in a bizarre place and made my hips look enormous.
Also found the sizing small.

I saw an Instagram post of someone in one and I was disappointed. I had been tempted but didn't think the quality or cut looked great.

HorsingAround2022 · 19/04/2023 22:15

I do and I really like it BUT it doesn’t fit well at the bust so I tend to have it one button less than I normally would and wear a crop top or body underneath.

I’d also recommend wearing a different belt with the dress as the belt that comes with the dress isn’t the best. If you choose a print dress they’re very eye catching and I always get compliments when wearing it.

Pearfacebananapoop · 19/04/2023 22:33

Yes I have one and l love it.
I am tall (5' 8") and it works well on me but my friend who is shorter (5' 4") also wears them and just makes the top buy slightly "baggier" over the belt and with heels with some of the buttons open so it's like a "slit".
I am a 16 and wear a 16.

Pearfacebananapoop · 19/04/2023 22:34

Ps I like the material, it's relatively thick and good quality but doesn't get too hot.

BoredOfThisMansWorld · 20/04/2023 09:47

I don't know the brand so just checked the website. I'm impressed to see the same dress modelled in an 8 and a 14 with lots of pictures and videos of both. It looks great, but the polyester puts me off.

My experience with polyester is that it is slightly less sweaty if it's woven into a more crepey feeling fabric, than when it's a soft jersey, if that makes sense?

Stripyfeet · 20/04/2023 10:55

I have one and like it. Only issue is that the arms are quite tight, so would recommend sizing up. I wish I'd returned and exchanged for a bigger size!

Randomuser9876 · 20/04/2023 14:54

Thanks all - fab intel! Think I'm going to order the one I like (black background pink flowers) in 12 and 14 and see how it goes.

I'm 5'8" so maxi shirt dresses tend to be really flattering and hoping I'll wear again after the event.

Oh I ordered this in green last year! Afraid I sent it back as I didn't love the material, and I found the arms tight but the waist loose (even with belt).

You may have better luck than me! I do like the look though, I was almost inspired to buy it by this thread before I realised I already had....!

Rainbowshit · 20/04/2023 20:39

I have it in green. I'm 5'9" with a small waist and big bust and the style really suits me.

I'm not a huge fan of the material and like others have said the arms are a bit on the tight side.

I'd order your normal size.

sleepwhenidie · 20/04/2023 20:53

I have ithe green/black alligator and didn’t think I’d like it, I would usually spend a lot more on a dress, but it’s gets worn to death and often gets compliments. I have to put a cami top under for work as the buttons are at a level where one undone is too cleavage revealing but looks too done up done up. It works with tights and ankle boots for work and knee highs/no tights and an extra button undone for going out. I keep looking out for a red version but always oos. Size 12-14 I would go for a 12 unless you think you will wear buttons done up quite high at the bust, in which case 14.

TheLadyOfTheLakes · 22/04/2023 11:09

I have it and love it. The fabric isn't great so wear plenty of deodorant. I would order a size up!

myusernamewastakenbyme · 12/06/2023 21:39

I have 3 Dove dresses....i adore them and always get compliments...im a 12 but i get the dress in a 10 as i find them quite roomy.

RampantIvy · 12/06/2023 21:50

I bought the navy star one recently in a 12. It was huge, so I ordered a 10 which is still extremely roomy. I thought an 8 might be too tight across the shoulders so I kept it. I'm 5'7" and it is a maxi on me.

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 12/06/2023 21:54

The sizing is definitely forgiving. I was wearing it last week at 30
weeks pregnant.

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 12/06/2023 21:54

I did wear a vest under with a few buttons undone.

32WindsorGardensBinLorry · 12/06/2023 22:02

I have the navy stars one. Have worn for a couple of weddings and had compliments for something a bit different. Ordered the 8 and the 10 and kept the 8. Worn non pregnant and at 17 weeks with DC2 (bump). I’m 5’6”. The sleeves are pretty but faffy. The belt sits a little lower than I’d like but can be manoeuvred upwards. It washes well. It is polyester but I was comfortable and a winter and spring wedding. I’m happy with it!

myusernamewastakenbyme · 14/06/2023 21:31

Ive just ordered this one from the Dancing Leopard App....£28 ish delivered as reduced to £31 and then 15% off on the app....this is my 4th Dove dress.

I have two dove dresses and two of the short version. I absolutely love them. I am 10-12 and take a 10.
