Has anyone tried Il Makiage foundation?? Thoughts??

I saw an ad for Il Makiage foundation on social media and it looked really good and seems to have great reviews. But I've never heard of it before and it costs £39 (although you can send it back free if you don't like it).

Has anyone tried it?? I'm surprised that I haven't heard of it when it looks so good which makes me suspicious. But I'm a bit out of touch with make-up so maybe it's great and it's just me who isn't aware?

Would love to get your feedback if you've tried it please.

I don't like it. It doesn't sit nicely on my skin at all. I may try again with a primer underneath but it makes it look like I've got flaky skin!

The colour match is really good, so it's bloody annoying.

I love it. Colour match was great and on my skin it looks almost like I have nothing. No flaking, no shine - just really natural. I've been using just Il Makiage since I tried it 8m ago. (before I was using YSL All hours)

I think flaky too and slightly plastic/filmy feeling. The colour was good but it felt weird (I’m not a foundation wearer usually though).

Throwaway0912 · 19/04/2023 10:53

Didn't live up to the hype for me. The colour match wasn't great but they will exchange. It was flaky and also heavy. Wore it for a few hours around the house and it separated/split so was both flaky and patchy.

HundredMilesAnHour · 19/04/2023 10:55

Oh dear, it's not sounding good? Really appreciate all your feedback. I think I'm going to give this one a miss then.

Actually I’d say almost the opposite of the others. The coverage was really good, nice and moisturising - didn’t dry or flake. However, I could not get the colour match right. I even had my make up savvy DD go through the questionnaire with me to make sure I wasn’t getting it wrong. I tried three shades - and Il Makiage were very helpful in terms of customer service - but just could not get a good match. They do refund as they say though so overall I’d say they’re a good company and the product obviously suits some people but not others (probably like any other make up product). The look and feel of the product was lively and as I said coverage was great so if I could have got the colour right I would have considered it good value. Big if though 🤷‍♀️

I got targeted ads for it for ages. The amount of money they must pay for advertising does make me sceptical about how good the product is.

Can highly recommend Nars tinted moisturiser if you’re after a new foundation though. It’s called tinted moisturiser but I would say it’s a medium coverage foundation.

It's horrendous. Ive had three different types from them now. The first one was like kids play make up. It sits on the skin and doesn't blend well at all. The next time they sent me one with more coverage and that is so thick its like stage make up. The colour match is ok but not nearly as close as I would get it if I went to a shop or make up counter. Honestly, avoid like the plague. There's a reason these companies blitz social media, its to get a short term spike in profit for a not very long term business.

It def looks too good to be true, and I always seem to suffer with dry skin and slide off.

Best foundation I ever used was IT Cosmetics illumination - it makes me look like I have 'perfect' skin without looking like I am wearing foundation. You can buy smaller bottles of it for £10/11.

HundredMilesAnHour · 19/04/2023 12:14

Thanks everyone. Definitely mixed reviews. For £20 I'd probably give it a try but not for £39.

I'm not massively unhappy with my current foundation (Armani Lasting Silk). I actually tend to use Erborian BB cream most days and I really love it but last weekend I went out to The Ivy and decided I should make an effort to look a bit more 'done'. So I put foundation on and I just wasn't happy with it.

It could just be me being weird and not used to wearing foundation anymore. Like many people, Covid changed my make-up routine dramatically. I used to wear a foundation, eye make-up etc every day to work pre-Covid (I work in Financial Services so have to look presentable). Now I'm wfh most days and due to other reasons, have only started going into the office recently. It's taken me a couple of months to get used to how I look in eyeliner again. For quite a while I felt like I looked like a 5 year old had applied it. 😂 (Apparently it looked fine, it was just me not being used to how I looked in eyeliner!) Victoria Beckham solved my eyeliner worries ( I love her eyeliners! Delighted that I've found a good replacement for the no longer made Marc Jacobs ones). 🤗

Now I suspect I'm starting the same thing with my foundation. I just wasn't happy. And then I saw the Il Makiage ad and thought ooooh I wonder. And of course now they're sending me emails all the bloody time. My skin is quite oily and not great, so I need decent coverage that lasts without looking like a mask. I've used IT Cosmetics CC in the past and liked it but the colours were never quite right (too pale or too orange) so I've back to my Armani but I wish it had slightly better coverage as my skin isn't good enough really for it. So all suggestions and your feedback is very much appreciated, thank you all!!

Il makiage foundation is great. Colour match they did for me was spot on. I think it's the best I've ever used. I have mature skin so finding a good foundation is really hard but I was really pleased with this .😍

Has anyone tried Il Makiage foundation?? Thoughts??
GceciR · 12/08/2025 02:53

I tried the foundation and didn't like it. I didn't sign for any update of any product, and after some months I has been charged through PayPal a huge amount in USD Dollar for some products that first didn't try and look like the information that unfortunately I didn't delete, was use for this kind of fraud transaction. It is means that this kind of business are easy to hack or our information has been shared. So annoyed special when you have tried to find reasons, and explanation, and they only treat you like we were wrong and maybe we are confused. I do not recommend this kind of online products. The products is not good. The customer service, is the worst I have try to contact.
