I don;lt think I have seen them suit anyone, even skinny 19 year olds with long legs

They are one step up from the dreaded tapered trousers IMHO

Or am I bitter because I have legs that wouldn;t look out of place holding up an oak tree?

they do look odd odnt htey
certianly wiht flat shoes
i think with heels they rae just one step on from say capri patns( but longer)

needmorecoffee · 15/02/2008 15:53

What excatly are skinny jeans? Like the drainpipe jeans we had in the 80's?
I've never really figured out jean styles.

SheikYerbouti · 15/02/2008 15:53

Or maybe SKI PANTS

Photgraphic evidence of me in a pair would confirm your thoughts

LadyOfWaffle · 15/02/2008 15:54

I don't like them either, they remind me of those no-shape drain pipes you see on the back of newspaper pull outs, but, when they were in fashion they did look good, on the right (very few) people. But, generally a big fat no from me.

SheikYerbouti · 15/02/2008 15:54

I don;t like the,m when they are long and they have that bit that goes over the foot. It looks weird

SheikYerbouti · 15/02/2008 15:55

Like drainpipes. But you don;t have to put them on wet, thanks to the advent of lycra

I agree, they llok shite on everyone.

Scampmum · 15/02/2008 16:03

I think they look good on great legs - thin and shapely e.g. Moss/Sienna/my sister . I think they look better with boots at least calf-length. They would look fucking awful on me. Luckily I very much doubt anyone makes them for third trimester of pregnancy so that particular urge to embarrass myself is unlikely to be sated.

Scampmum · 15/02/2008 16:04

p.s. my stonewashed ones in 1986-7 (worn with over-knee socks and baseball boots, natch) had gold zips up the sides to enable one to get them on. I note this particular style quirk has been largely left out this cycle.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 15/02/2008 16:06

What else do you wear with boots?

SheikYerbouti · 15/02/2008 16:06

No, I don't like them on anyone.

There was a girl in the pub the other day wearing them - she had legs as a big as mine. I wanted to tell her off.

Well, I dont were jeans at the mo - too fat. Bt when I do, oit's bootleg, or poss flare. They suit me, even if they make me look like I am in a 1995 time warp

dunno what my jeans are. They are narrow all the way down but saggy around the bum and back of thighs. But then my sister gave them to me cos they were a 12 and she's a bit larger than that.
Probably a terrible fit to be honest but they were free
I only have that pair. How many do people normally have?
In my mind 'flares' are still a swear word. I was a teen in the 80's and if the leg wasn't tight and narrow you were teased for having 'flares'.

magHOOVERlia74 · 15/02/2008 16:29

I am a real skinny minny but hate skinny jeans and feel really claustraphobic in them and I have yet to see anyone over the age of 12 who looks ok it them

Dd1 has a pair and wears leg warmers at the bottom going under her feet into her shoes or boots

Immaculateconception · 15/02/2008 17:42

Well I like them, and to be honest I don't give a shit what people think of me, I'm not fat and my DF likes me in them.

well i have some [rebellious whatever emoticon]

lazarou · 15/02/2008 17:46

I'm getting increasingly fed up with my skinny jeans. They wont bloody stay up and I spend all day hoiking them up. I need some braces.

lazarou · 15/02/2008 17:48

I bought a really nice pair of black high waisted skinny flared ones from topshop, and they stay up. Dh keeps calling me simon cowell. He can't talk, he wears vile polo shirts from ralph lauren and nasty jumpers from henry lloyd.

ZippiBabes · 15/02/2008 17:49

yuk at ralph lauren and henri lloyd does he play golf and have a boat

lazarou · 15/02/2008 17:52

He used to play hockey! Then I introduced him to golf, and he sold golf stuff on ebay for a while.
He loves the preppy look. He used to buy me horrible clothes he thought I would like, but I can't stand bloody polo shirts, and I hate Henry bloody lloyd.
He would probably have a boat if he had enough money.

needmorecoffee · 15/02/2008 18:00

luckily I ignore fashion
