A suit for DD to look like David Bowie at the school prom

I have changed names because this is fairly identifiable if you even remotely know me or DD.

So, DD is going to the school prom, but hell will freeze over before she wears a dress. Her mood board for the outfit (!) mostly features David Bowie.

This is her best option so far - where else should we be looking?

The suit in the Life On Mars video was pale blue - is that the one she's thinking of?

I'd imagine the Thin White Duke look would be easier to replicate but I know somebody who hired a similar one for a fancy dress party; would she maybe consider doing that?

What shaped trousers does she prefer?

This is an interesting look and could potentially look really cool depending on her height/shape.

At 16 I wanted nothing more than to look like David Bowie (still a huge fan) and I loved wearing my black flared trousers with a white to to college. I agree that the Thin White Duke will probably be easiest to find an outfit for but loads of the links people have shared could also work well. Hope she finds something!

Thank you - loads to go on here. I will go through them with her later and see what she thinks. My impression is that we are going for a Bowie mashup with a 70s suit and a more New Romantic shirt. But in truth I think she will know what she wants only when she sees it.

She has - unfortunately - inherited my vast bosom so the waistcoat look is not going to work for her, it will definitely be a jacket.

And yes, DP and I are very proud - we were both fans in our own teenage years!
