Hi, l'm looking for a swimsuit/tankini with a little skirt, just to cover the tops of my thighs, google search brought up the Seafancy.co.uk, but it's actually based in China, was wondering if anyone has ordered from it?
There's quite a bit of different styles on there and was wondering about something like this:
https://www.seafancy.co.uk/category/one-pieces/product/floral-annette-in-amelie-bloom-one-piece
I've found this from Sainsbury's Tu
https://www.argos.co.uk/product/tuc141471885?clickPR=plp:22:28
but would like something in a brighter colour
Anyone got any recommendations? Many thanks

Following as I'm after similar. I love the Freemans one.

The Seafancy style posted by the OP is definitely the prettiest but if it doesn't fit and/or it's rubbish the chances of getting a refund are probably slim.

alifemoreorlessordinary · 16/04/2023 14:36

NatashaDancing - yes, that's what I'm worried about! thanks - I like the Debenhams one but not keen on halter neck.

And the Next and Freemans ones are "swim dresses", when I'm looking for a swimsuit that just has a little skirt/frill type thing, maybe coming off at the hips rather than the waist? Might be a bit too specific! The Sainsburys Tu one is as close a style as I can get.
And all of them seem to have very high backs, years ago they seemed to be lower (maybe showing my age 😬)

Try Bonprix's own site. It might have more.

Ancientdecs · 16/04/2023 15:01

What about a boyleg swimsuit? Decathlon has some, and speedo. I have both and they're great.
I think the more covered up styles are due a comeback. There is a received wisdom that swimdresses etc look like you're underconfident and hiding, but I'm not sure i agree with this anymore.
Good luck anyway!

Following with interest as I really like some of the styles on the sea fancy site but I am unsure about the sizing and the company. Does anyone have any experience of their sizing please?

margotsdevil · 16/04/2023 15:30

I found freemans good as I could mix and match tops and bottoms to get the look I was after - there were a couple of shorter skirts that maybe what you're looking for!

33goingon64 · 16/04/2023 15:49

Yes I bought several tankinis from Sea Fancy. Totally fine, though the bottoms are badly designed - no built in gusset so the seam jabs you in the fanny when you move. I bought separate bottoms from Decathalon.

alifemoreorlessordinary · 16/04/2023 16:36

thank you all, will have a look at Bonprix and decathlon.

I always come on these threads to recommend lands end. Not the cheapest but there’s always a code for a hefty reduction and they are well made - mine have lasted years.

I was going to suggest Landsend too.

Whenever I've seen a woman in a swim dress or skirt, it clings like a massive wet sloppy bin bag when they get out of the water, highlighting everything they were hoping to skim over. Go for a tankini, much more flattering.

Yes.. I think swim shorts and a Tankini top are usually the best bet.

Luredbyapomegranate · 23/04/2023 21:12

… I mean, there is nothing wrong with a normal Tankini, but if you want to draw a veil over your upper thighs, swim shorts are better than skirted swimsuits or swim dresses

alifemoreorlessordinary · 24/04/2023 12:53

ooh pictoosh - hadn't thought of that 😬

will update once the Matalan one arrives...

I've also been tempted by Sea Fancy but the reviews are awful

https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/seafancy.com

Amazon actually have a huge range of swimwear at decent prices and you have the big advantage that you can order loads and be confident it will be delivered quickly and you can return whatever you don't keep for a full refund.

I bought a load when I had a swimwear emergency a few days before a holiday and even the cheaper things were decent quality and like the picture - a good tip I saw on here was to read the reviews and look for those with pictures of real people, not the studio shots by the supplier.

Seafancy is rated "Bad" with 1.6 / 5 on Trustpilot

I ordered a tankini from seafancy and when it didnt arrive after several weeks they told me it was sold out. They did refund quite quickly - they are based in China so probably a nightmare doing returns.

Cakeyface123 · 24/04/2023 16:52

I’ve got Asdas. Plain black with a small skirt and I absolutely love it. I had to size up though. It’s the best I’ve ever felt in a swimsuit, I absolutely love it.

I have also heard that they are very uncomfortable when wet.
