Who does (not hugely expensive) jeans for a genuine pear shape, ie large hips/relatively small waist? So that you can get them on but without having an extra 12 inches of baggy waist? I've read articles by Trinny etc, but to be honest their definition of how a "suitable for pear shape" style differs from any others seems hardly visible to the naked eye...Wallis used to fit but they've gone all teenage on me.

I would also prefer a higher waist style as am long of body and don't like gaping gap between jeans and top.

I've been pleased with my ones from Monsoon (I think mine are the Abigail ones), which fit those criteria, I think. And I was able to buy a size smaller than normal, which is always a bonus.

i bet oyu peruna(shudder) do em

JackieNo · 15/02/2008 15:56

Actually some of the per una ones I tried on on the same trip as I ended up getting the ones from Monsoon on, had really nice soft denim, and possibly more than the average amount of lycra - they were really stretchy (but in a good way). But they were still all too long for me (stumpy legs).

next to hig wasit wiht stretch

JackieNo · 15/02/2008 15:58

Having squinted, is that 'Next do high waist with stretch' Cod?

Katisha · 15/02/2008 17:43

Could be...thanks - I'll have a go at Next and Monsoon, although I suspect from past experience that Next will make me feel enormous and depressed.

If it helps, I'm a size 20, but got into an 18 in Monsoon . Good hunting.

Katisha · 15/02/2008 17:53

Thanks - that sounds promising! Although those Abigail ones look a good colour and style they are short length. Can't see a regular length in that style unless I am being thick (probable...)

Not on the website, but in the shop they had short, medium and long lengths.

PerkinWarbeck · 15/02/2008 19:26

Uniqlo. I'm a proper pear shape, and have got a few compliments when wearing their jeans. Also am 5'9" and they're not too low-slung.

here. they look a bit like flares on the website, but are straight-legged in the flesh. or should that be in the denim?
