Any hairdressers? Help needed...

My lovely son is really struggling with severe mental health issues, as well as being autistic, and can't leave the house at the moment. He is also situationally mute, so can't speak to people he doesn't know, isn't keen on strangers in his safe space (home), and can't tolerate people touching him.

He is desperate for a haircut, but the only option is for me to cut it. I often hack away at DH's hair (and the dogs), so I am reasonably comfy with a pair of scissors. But whilst DH can cope with looking like a bit of a twat if I get it wrong, DS will really struggle.

In the past I have used a cutting diagram reasonably successfully, but I have lost the one I used previously and can't find it again! Does anyone have (or could draw) a cutting diagram for something like one of the images here, or direct me to some simple instructions? (the simpler the better). I have decent sharp scissors, plus chunkers and blenders (for the dogs!).

Thanks in advance. DS's life is hard enough without me making it worse...

Can't help at all but bumping your thread. I hope you find someone.

There might be something on YouTube. From using up do instructions, which always sound easier on the videos, if you find anything I suggest you watch it loads of times and transcribe the instructions to refer to before starting.

I don’t know if this is any help to you, but this diagram would achieve similar to those pictures. Short back and sides, longer on top with longish fringe.

Have a look on YouTube and Tiktok they have plenty of videos showing how to cut hair.

Thanks @NatashaDancing and @Skybluepinky - I find the youtube tutorials really hard to follow - I struggle to visualise what they're doing and transfer it to the head in front of me!
@JoanJettsMullet that's the kind of thing I was after - I find these diagrams much easier to read. If anyone can find a diagram that's even closer to the haircut he wants, I would be eternally grateful!

Why don’t you enrol yourself on a mens cutting course or barbering course so I’m you can do it yourself and it might be another income stream for you too!

I'd love to do that, but I work 60 hour weeks, and I'm in the middle of taking the local authority to court to try and get some kind of education for DS as he's been out of school for nearly 2 years now. I actually wanted to be a hairdresser when I was a teenager, but my mum 'encouraged' me to go to uni instead...
