Casual footwear that isn't trainers?

Florencenotflo · 15/04/2023 07:02

Any suggestions for casual footwear that isn't trainers or converse? I live in them but I'd like something a bit nicer that I can still wear on the school run, shopping, going round to a friends etc. I always feel a bit of a scruff in my trainers 😂

I don't do heels, and budget is around £40 for now, but I could afford a bit more. I've had a look but not finding anything i particularly like!

what about espadrilles for nice days/summer?

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 15/04/2023 07:12

I've got a pair of silver brogues I like for that.

ChaoticCrumble · 15/04/2023 07:17

They’re more winter/autumn but I got some fly London Chelsea boots in the sale and they go with most of my clothes - I wear them a lot as so easy to get on and off. When it’s warmer I have some rose gold superga and tell myself they look a bit nicer than my other trainers :)

Spinningscrewdrivers · 15/04/2023 07:20

Ballet flats are apparently back this year if they’re an option for you?

JennyForeigner · 15/04/2023 07:21

Not trendy but metallic loafers are comfy and bridge the summer not too hot gap for me.

MintJulia · 15/04/2023 07:40

I have ballet flats, deck shoes and loafers.

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 15/04/2023 07:46

I'm thinking of getting some flap pump style shoes I can wear with bare feet. I really like loafers but they are very closed in and I want something lighter for summer when I'm not wearing sandals.

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 15/04/2023 07:47

Flat!!

Quite like these but think I want tan:

I have been browsing at M&S and found this: https://www.marksandspencer.com/wide-fit-suede-flat-ballet-pumps/p/clp60584235?intid=mobileappppdpshare

I’ve been eyeing up some metallic superga for the summer too. They’re on offer so would fit in your budget OP

@Spinningscrewdrivers I'm getting flashbacks to my late teens of primark ballet pumps and the smell of them after a whole day of wearing them 🤢

I did love them though!

I have these and am wearing them to death - very comfy, slip on and can be paired with anything- they also come in a lot of colours. Signature Forever Comfort® Leather Chunky Wedge

@LeatherSkirt82 what are these like width-wise? I have wide feet and narrow heels and slip-ons don't always work for me, if they are wide enough the heels often flap.

twilighteaser · 15/04/2023 08:41

These are comfier than trainers and come in amazing colours too https://www.clarks.co.uk/c/Funny-Dream/p/20306639

Amazon have them in Silver!

LeatherSkirt82 · 15/04/2023 11:40

My feet got wider after DC and I’m finding them very comfortable.

GettingStuffed · 15/04/2023 11:42

I have a pair of Genuins sandals in sparkly pink. They're like the two strap Birkenstocks

AgnesGray · 15/04/2023 11:43

I have a couple of pairs loafers, clogs and a pair of ballet flats which are from Allbirds. They are great as you can wash them. Agree re bare feet and cheap ballet pumps 😷

Sorry, but they are just ugly! How will they be better than trainers?

BeeBB · 15/04/2023 12:28

Sorry hijack your thread but following with interest. Love my trainers for comfort but after something dressier not heels comfortable with plenty of cushioning especially in the heel area as I sometimes have problems with my achilles and plantar fasciitis. I can go up to £100 for the right product super comfortable and versatile.

FancyFanny · 15/04/2023 15:27

How about a chunky light coloured loafer like these? https://www.johnlewis.com/dune-gazelles-suede-loafers-camel/p109884718

FancyFanny · 15/04/2023 15:31

These ones look particularly nice, although pricey! https://www.johnlewis.com/gabor-daisy-suede-loafers-linen/p109762839

Hellenabe · 15/04/2023 20:37

Those ugg ones are very nice @MrsZzz

Bunnichick · 15/04/2023 20:58

I like my black leather chelsea boots

they're smarter than trainers but still v comfortable, great with jeans and go with other things too

Bunnichick · 15/04/2023 20:59

I have leather Ugg trainers as well and some leather loafers but the loafers are now for just throwing on, not worrying about socks and laces
