Please help me with a dress (?) for a swanky evening event

I'm 38, size 14-16, hourglass shape, 5ft 7. Not stereotypically girly, but happy with florals if they're not too "buxom country wench". Would prefer something on the edgier side rather than trying to look pretty - I have tattoos/piercings which will be visible, but equally I don't want to look too goth. Elegant and classy would be nice, but not too mumsy. I'm open to any and all suggestions!

Essentially I've lost lots of weight in the past few years, and have zero idea how to dress myself if not in jeans or casual summer dresses.

To make things even tricker, I broke my ankle late last year, and now doubt I'll be able to wear heels. I have these flats which are lovely and hopefully will go with lots of things, but not sure about shorter dresses as ankle strap shoes and knees out makes me feel like a toddler https://www.otrium.co.uk/product/nessie-silver?gclid=CjwKCAjwrdmhBhBBEiwA4Hx5gYDJALr4vyoBbYK3DqhUQc54ZzobYXPfixmzQmOr9YahMlbZkSwihoCOnwQAvDD_BwE

Or do I give up with dresses and look at a jumpsuit??

Any help or advice would be hugely appreciated - I feel like I've looked at and rejected every dress on the Internet at this point, the event is in just over a week and I'm in full panic mode 😅

I have a similar figure to you and wore this in green to a swanky work event. Looked bloody amazing (fyi I also have visible tattoos and piercings)

That is beautiful @MrsWidgerysLodger, and what a good price! I have a good strapless bra, so this could definitely work. What (if any) type of necklace did you wear? Or would big earrings be better do you think?

I kept jewellery quite simple, I have a silver necklace with a kind of teardrop pendant and some earrings of a similar shape so just went with that. I did start the night in heels but took them off as they were hurting and no-one noticed thanks to the length of the dress. Tbh as it's such a classic cut I reckon you could wear any jewellery you fancy really! I hope your event goes well!
