Going to a house party for a big birthday, lovely venue with caterers, cocktails etc.
Ideally want a short dress for a short apple shaped size 16. Prefer dark colours, ideas welcome please.

I imagine that would be a very small percentage of the number of users on here.

If by ‘here’ you mean S&B, then no it won’t a very small percentage at all.

Investment in clothes and accessories is not all that uncommon on S&B.

You just seem to get flamed for it these days, which is a shame.

But @Cantonet, your exasperation does not entitle you to school other posters on what they’re allowed to post. Surely you can see that? No one is obliged to check your family’s spending power before responding to a thread.

I absolutely hate about 95% of the suggestions across S&B. Sometimes I’m insufficiently reticent about that. But I would be crazy to imagine I could stop other people from posting.

It’s also the case - which may be surprising to you - that there’s a very strong contingent of posters who do actually enjoy expensive clothes. I know because I was on an incredibly rewarding thread that reached 1000 posts, just recently. Everyone on it managed to express their enthusiasms - without denigrating anyone else’s opinions.

Please can you link the thread you’re referring to? 🙏 I think I would love that!

Would be an antidote to all the miserable shit on S&B of late…

By 'here' I mean MN as a whole. And most of the people on S&B too, I maintain.

Anyway, the OP has stated a budget - and it's not £600.

Glad you like the All Saints one @Greengr I think it would work with your sandals or boots, although obviously over budget. Their silk mix stuff feels really lovely (I 'may' have splashed out on a kimono last week!).

Some good ideas, quite like the New look one. Thanks

Well I love the green dahlia print dress @CountryCousin , so be assured that you're not completely pissing in the wind 😁

The Double J is lovely. A real stand out dress.

That's really nice. It's sort of the affordable version of the Double J dress.
