shite, menopause hair

I used to have thick, wavy hair and lots of it- born looking like a bog brush! However since going through menopause my hair is awful; I've lost lots of it and it feels and looks puny. Dull and no body and resembles the hair on my childhood dolls when I washed it in soap :( I can see my scalp clearly now and I hate it
Anyoe been in this situation and found something that helped? I have a good diet so it can't be that

Regaine mousse for women 5%. Apply everyday on dry scalp. A bit of a faff but absolutely worked for me.

Are you using HRT?

pooptastic · 10/04/2023 16:34

Yes I am on HRT as well but think it was the mousse that made the difference. Not noticed a difference in hair texture. Just lots of new growth after looking v bald for a few years. Been using the mousse for 12 months. Was about to resort to hair pieces so v pleased regaine worked for me.

Yes I'm on HRT but it's made no difference. I've had bloods tested for under- active thyroid and all normal

Use the mens. It's stronger and cheaper.

If your diet is good and there's no other obvious cause, then blood tests and a trip to a trichologist is really the only thing that will get to the bottom of your hair loss. Otherwise, you're just stabbing in the dark really.

I started taking vitamin b complex which includes biotin which is great for nails skin and hair.

i have a lot of hair (and i mean a head full of curls) and my crown is thinning. Its lanky and just …. Oh I don’t, just yuck.

hrt did nothing for me.

Might be worth eating some jelly every day - if you're not vegetarian. My mum reckons this improved her hair.

Gatekeeper · 12/04/2023 17:12

thanks everyone- I'm going to give b vits a go

Which HRT are you on? When I was on Evorel Conti my hair was coming out in handfuls, stopped the HRT and hair stopped falling out. GP gave me a different HRT as it's apparently the type of progesterone in the Evorel Conti but I've been brave enough to start the new one yet.

Check your iron levels.
Vit D and marine collagen have made a difference to me.
