M&S just doesn't get it!!! Short women unite!!!

I am short but pretty well proportioned. This means that I don't just need trousers that are shorter in length, the crotch/waist ratio also needs to be adjusted.

Is this not just plain obvious??? Why is it so hard to find a pair of trousers that look good without paying ridiculous prices (Boden I am looking at you!!)

Try being a tall woman who’s length is mainly in her torso rather than her legs - almost everything from M&S is basically a crop top.

I think it’s the same for anyone who doesn’t have the “average” body used as the model.

@InspiredToBoot , Next Petite is good for proportions.

Baxdream · 09/04/2023 15:18

I'm tall and spent my whole life struggling. It must be amazing to be average (or rich!)

Wedding dress shopping was my first experience where they were the perfect length!

InspiredToBoot · 09/04/2023 15:20

Problem with Next is that the quality is so so so baaaad!!

And by the way I do sympathise with tall women as I myself find tops generally too short on the body to be flattering, so I can imagine your frustration.

I agree marks and spencer jeans and trousers in short are now too long for me, I used to buy lots from them, but they seem to have changed the lengths, I'm 5ft 2 and really struggle, my jeans all now have raw edges where I have to chop them, I don't want to pay someone to hem them.

HeddaGarbled · 09/04/2023 17:39

I have short legs and a long body. M&S tend to be pretty good for me. We’re all different and you have to find the styles and brands that work with your body shape.

For example, could you always go for low-rise trousers and forget about ever wearing high-waisted?

I’m the same. I’m nearly 6ft but only take a 33” trouser as most of my height is in my body. I’ve given up trying to wear dresses with a defined waist as the waist line generally sits just under my boobs!

KirstenBlest · 09/04/2023 18:03

@InspiredToBoot , I can't say I've noticed. I try to only buy second hand, and the quality I've seen is good. Grudgingly left something behind at a charity shop yesterday, because I knew that I would not fit into an 8 petite, even though I'm not much taller, and probably would fit a regular 8. Smile

I'm an inverted triangle and struggle with getting things to fit on the shoulder in some shops.

RuthTopp · 09/04/2023 18:05

Under 5ft here = impossible everywhere !

sunshinesupermum · 09/04/2023 18:05

It's M&S dresses that are TOO LONG for me at 5' 4". I want a midi dress that doesn't sweep the floor!

InspiredToBoot · 09/04/2023 19:46

@HeddaGarbled, I HATE HATE HATE high waisted trousers, but where on earth are low/mid waisted trousers that are not the ones I wore first time around in the 90s? I am 52.

The short in M&S is now the average height length

I find things are generally short in the waist in tops and dresses

woodhill · 09/04/2023 19:50

I hate low rise trousers and they give me a wedgie so am grateful for the higher waists at the moment

Yep I am tall on the torso and regular on the leg. Playsuits?

Forget it.
