Black dress denim jacket look

Probably late to this but have seen quite a few women today wearing knee or above knee length black dresses (cotton or jersey?) with denim jackets today plus trainers. They looked good. I don’t care if loads of people were wearing them.

I’ve got an oversized denim jacket but now I’m looking for a more fitted one, so recommendations please for that and also for a black dress.

I’ve got a long sleeved heavier jersey black dress but think it’ll be too warm in spring/summer. I honestly can’t think if I do have shorter black lighter material dresses anywhere.

What kind of dress? Bodycon, fit and flare? What length?

I think fit and flare and knee length or just above, eg not skimming my bum!

I did try on my other black dress and the denim jacket which kind of worked.
