I don't know what my style is anymore

I'm 37 and I hate my wardrobe. It's literally full to bursting with things I never wear anymore. I live in the same leggings and sweatshirts but I am dreading the warmer weather as I have a big old mum tum and prefer big, oversized sweats to skimpy sun dresses.

I've always liked a grungy, 90s kind of look but I don't even feel like I can pull that off now. I just look scruffy and frumpy. Can anyone recommend any good sources of style inspiration for a slightly overweight, late 30's mother who has lost her way? Thank you.

I would start by finding a smart part of trousers and perfect jeans and a few tops that are good quality (capsule wardrobe idea)

then you can always make your look more ‘you’ and funky with accessories

but it’s so hard to find yourself again

Start with a good declutter when you get time - get rid of anything that you feel terrible in (I did this ruthlessly) at least I don’t have much but I can see what I have and it’s not as bad

I struggle with jeans because of my tummy. I prefer skinny jeans or jeggings that I can throw a baggy top over so that it covers that whole section.

Like the capsule wardrobe idea and definitely agree I need to declutter. There are things in there that I haven't worn for years but I keep 'just in case'. I think the problem is I really hate shopping online and rarely get the chance to look leisurely and try things on at the shops either. It's just a pain.

Throw them out. Charity shop them. Only keep things you love, look great in, are in good condition and you want to wear. Start from there.

I definitely find a good declutter helps me a lot. I am all boobs and belly and skinny wee limbs. Total apple shape and I've had two DCs and a CS so the tummy struggle is real!

I actually found some lovely jeans from ASOS which are straight leg. They're way more flattering on me than skinny as they skim over my mum tum, so I can wear normal length t-shirts with them and could even tuck in if I felt like it. So, if you aren't ideologically opposed to jeans 😄, I wouldn't rule them out yet!

As others have recommended on here, I'm aiming for a capsule type wardrobe, but I still succumb to the odd stupid purchase. Recently bought a floaty, pink, batwing, boho dress and I'm honestly just going to end up wearing it as a nightie at this rate as it is way too much and very not me. But I can't bring myself to get rid of it.

I may need to be more ruthless but it is really difficult
