Skin care ladies; SPF?

I need to start putting a lil’ extra effort into my skin as I’m getting married in September.
I realised I have no idea what suncream to be using on my face?!

I’m so hot on suncream for my kids and my body but because I usually wear a SPF foundation I never really thought about my face - but I don’t often wear foundation anymore so I need a good SPF for my face!

what’s the rules with face suncream? Can I use the normal body stuff, is there SOF’s specifically for the face? Which ones are best? High street ideally but I’ll look into anything.

help a gal out 😭

I really like Heliocare 360 gel oil free spf 50. It's quite thick so you just have to put it on quickly and not try to rub it in too much. I don't get any breakouts from it and no white cast, I apply makeup over it.

I keep meaning to find one that is a light spray that can be applied over makeup though for top ups later in the day, especially in summer.

Definitely wouldn't use body sunscreen on my face, it'll be too thick for my pores and would definitely break me out!

I love the primers with spf in, the Charlotte tilbury one has spf 50 in and is fab - I like the la Roche posay one too. The garnier spray factor 50 for the face is a lifesaver on holiday, means I can top up during the day over skincare / makeup!

I use a serum as normal then apply Revolution Shimmer Sun Protect spf50 Face Cream all over my face, neck & back of hands.
There's a bit of colour to it like bb cream & it spreads easily & is very moisturising, although it's actually a facial sun lotion you won't need a separate moisturiser.
Then apply make up.

I paid £9.50 from Debenhams online.

I'm shit at anything appearance related but saw Nadine Baggot recommend L'Oreal Revitalift Clinical SPF 50+ recently

OldieButBaddie · 03/04/2023 13:12

I love the Heliocare one too, recommended to me by a dermatologist who said it is head and shoulders above any other in terms of protection

squirrelnutkins1 · 03/04/2023 13:19

I use this. On offer at Superdrug st the mo.

L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler SPF 50 Day Cream

Thanks @NightOwlNotEarlyBird! Reasonably priced too is always good! Will give it a try.

I’m all over Korean sunscreens. I’m an Aussie sun-dodger and have been using Korean and Japanese sunscreens for years. I think their formulations are much more pleasant to use and the science is much newer. My faves are:- (from most to least moisturizing - but all very hydrating.) I have all three going atm and can attest to how well they suit sensitive skin and play nicely with all my makeup.

Round Lab - Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Cream SPF50+ PA++++

Beauty of Joseon - Relief Sun : Rice + Probiotic SPF50+ PA++++ - 50ml

SKIN1004 - Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF50 PA++++

Are you on Insta? Sali Hughes has just made a video about facial sunscreens under £20. I use (and love) Ultrasun face but I'm going to try Heliocare based on the recommendations here.

@rllrsk8 fyi it is much cheaper on sweetcare than anywhere!

MuddledMindy · 03/04/2023 18:37

Heliocare is amazing. You can also get it with a tint in for light foundation like coverage.

BeansOnToast32 · 03/04/2023 18:42

I use Heliocare Mineral Tolerance Fluid which is SPF 50.

I have rosacea so very sensitive skin and it doesn't irritate me or leave a white cast.

Was just going to post this. Was looking at the ones she tried and thinking ooh I'll give that a go, then realised the last one (the Garnier) which she said was the best, is the one I'm currently using. I'm very happy with it. It is really hydrating (I sometimes use it instead of moisturizer and I've got dry skin)

A word of warning though about the spray one she used- I have that and used it to top up face and decolletage and my beautiful white Cos t shirt went orange.

@OldieButBaddie do you get it posted to the UK? If so can you share what the additional customs/taxes are? Thank you!

I've never had to pay any, I've ordered from them many times

OldieButBaddie · 04/04/2023 11:18

Sorry and yes I do get posted to the uk - I don't actually know why I never pay any, the first time I ordered I didn't realise they were in Portugal but no duty was asked for, so I kept ordering and still none. Obviously I can't guarantee this will always be the case

TeSe81 · 04/04/2023 11:23

@OldieButBaddie thank you, I hope we haven’t now tempted fate for you!

NightOwlNotEarlyBird · 05/04/2023 12:18

Re customs/tax, you only need to pay if the total amount (including shipping) is over £135.

TeSe81 · 05/04/2023 21:39

@NightOwlNotEarlyBird oh wow, that’s interesting . Thank you!
