£100 voucher for M&S - what should I buy?

EdwardTeachBornOnABeach · 01/04/2023 08:07

I have a £100 voucher to spend at M&S, I'd like to spend the money wisely but as I cannot get in to a store to try things on, I need some recommendations for hidden gems. What would be your top picks?

I have a casual, outdoorsy lifestyle and wear mostly wide leg jeans and yoga leggings with cashmere jumpers from Vinted and trainers. I like the aesthetic of Other Stores, Arket etc. I'm 50 and a size 6. Help!

They have some lovely cashmere jumpers down to half price at the moment, so I would buy one of them.

They also have a fantastic pair of cotton/linen black trousers that I really want but I'm waiting for the weather to warm up a bit first.

The Good Move workout gear is also very good, and agree with the cashmere, I'm still wearing 20 year old M&S cashmere sweaters

@indecisivewoman81 Thanks, I cannot see any cashmere on sale on the M&S site - is it instore only?

@Defiantlynot41 agree on the old cashmere quality, I have an old St Michaels cashmere jumper that I found on Ebay which is the softest jumper I own

I rate their jeans. For me they fit well and wash well.

I agree with their good move range too.

I also really rate their thermal range but the wrong time of year for that now. You can’t go wrong with a bag of Percy pigs. I also like their relax range of hand wash and candles.

EdwardTeachBornOnABeach · 01/04/2023 09:26

@Stravawindow I mean that is always an option - £100 in the food hall...

I vote for Cashmere - I've recently bought the emerald green open collared jumper & the turquoise crew neck, new on eBay, to cheer up this awful weather. They're beautiful & cheering to wear. Unfortunately I think the sales are over & I can't see any current discounts either.

Cyclingmummy1 · 01/04/2023 12:41

I was about to say food, but see you are already considering that option.

I have just this morning taken possession of a variety of t shirts for the summer. The £29 Autograph t shirt is probably the best plain t shirt I have ever come across. I'm rushing straight back to get 2 in each colour. It's thick, heavyweight cotton, just gorgeous.

EdwardTeachBornOnABeach · 01/04/2023 14:48

@Cantonet I forgot to mention I'm afraid of colour - I have an extensive pallette of black, grey, beige and errr grey again. There is a nice beige cashmere jumper but they are OOS in 6 and 8.

@Cyclingmummy1 I could probably eat £100 worth of macaroni cheese but it'd be nice to spend it one something that lasts a bit longer, but if I cant decide I'll probaby buy food (or wine)

@So1invictus do you have a link please?

Was just on the M&S site to check out the t-shirts and once again, why is it that men's t-shirts are both cheaper and higher quality (supima cotton £20 vs 'cotton - rich' £29 for women). Notice that supima cotton is not even available in the women's section https://www.marksandspencer.com/slim-fit-premium-cotton-t-shirt/p/clp60535453?color=BLACK#intid=plpnav_pid_pg1pip40g4r1c3

It was the same when I was searching for wool socks a few months back, where they had pure wool socks in the men's section and only wool blend in women's section.

I should say that I would have bought those supima cotton shirts from the men's section had they an XS, but they only have a small..

It's this one in the green @EdwardTeachBornOnABeach I feel I should also say this is the first green item of clothing I've ever bought 😂 I also bought a couple of the £19 ones and an £8.50 one. Not much difference in quality between those, but oh my, the Autograph one is amazing 😍

In my day vneck dad cardigans from the men's section of M&S were all the rage at the student union 😎

EdwardTeachBornOnABeach · 02/04/2023 22:28

@User2344 @So1invictus thank you!

@MorrisZapp I’d still wear a dad cardigan tbh

To be fair they do do pure cotton (albeit not supima) women's t shirts for fifteen quid as well. The elastane in the Autograph ones is added for fit, not to keep the price down like a polyester blend would be.

@EdwardTeachBornOnABeach Consider browsing their beauty area and getting some new skincare. As they did. Ramses stuff now then that could also be a consideration.
