Want light Indian soft thin cotton shirts for summer. Who sells them?

I've got one fine blue and white striped shirt from Gap that is a lovely soft cotton. But it's not quite right. The French always seem to have shirts like this. I don't know if "Indian cotton" is the technically correct term but it's that thin cool cotton I'm after. Not poplin. Does anyone know a reliable supplier of them?

If you have e bay there is a store on there called doorway to fashion. The clothing there is very good in the summer months. And it's the ethnic/Indian style you mentioned.

There's a lady around my area that sells at garden festivals and I have behalf a dozen of her lovely cotton shirts. I think she has a website called chameleonclothing. I will try and find a link by

The innes de fressange range in uniqlo have lovely light cotton shirts, I have a black one and one in white

SwedishEdith · 27/03/2023 21:24

Oh, wow, lots more suggestions to explore, thank you. The Ines de la Fressange range is a good shout but always seem to remember too late even if ask for a reminder.

It's the kind of cotton that gets softer the more you wash it.

If you're ever in France, Monoprix does some lovely ones

Depend which part of the Country you live in you may find what you are looking for in Indian clothing shops. Have had some lovely thin cotton shirts from local Sari shop.

Funnily enough, I did end up getting a linen shirt in Monoprix last year for shoulder protection. Great colour but a size too big, short sleeves and linen. Would have been perfect long sleeved and cotton.

Good idea. I'm in a major city so should be able to find some.

Oo, they're nice. Pity about the postage costs.

There's an Indian store called Anokhi.Their cotton gets softer with age. They are generally hand wash though.
They used to sell as East in the UK.I just did a search for them and they sell on Etsy.

Try eBay for Indian clothing.

GettingStuffed · 28/03/2023 09:17

Redebs · 28/03/2023 11:50

Nomads?

Sagittariusrising · 28/03/2023 15:45

East and Monsoon might have something

EffortlessDesmond · 28/03/2023 16:22

I bought a dress and shirt from a French make called Terre Rouge last summer, but you'd have to find a retail stockist as they don't sell online.

I like some of the Nicobar clothes, but the inevitable customs and handling changes put me off.

I went to my local shopping mall this afternoon. Primark have got some of the really thin cotton shirts that you can wear as a cover up. I saw loads of cotton shirts in Next.

The New Look shirts look nice but aren't actually cotton. I didn't know Muslin can be made out of Viscose 🤔

It can’t. Muslin is a cotton cloth. They should have described it a viscose Muslim.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 28/03/2023 19:45

Arrrrgh. MUSLIN!
