Is anyone else having problems with Boots?

Ive tried several times now to place an order but it won’t process the payment. I spoke to their customer service who told me they were having some issues. They said I should go into a store and make an order, but what’s the point of having a website if I have to traipse into town to order a delivery? Plus, I have gift cards I need to use up that can only be spent online.

This is weeks after not being able to log into my account.Honestly, how do they make money? They have the very worst website I’ve ever encountered. I can’t be the only one having these issues.

Last time I ordered from them half my order never arrived so I haven't bothered since

earsup · 26/03/2023 17:55

I think they have given up as a shop, the opticians seems to have a good range but the shop near us has empty shelves and a very agressive security man who follows everyone about so you feel uncomfortable and cross the road to superdrug !

ForSaleChesterDraws · 26/03/2023 17:59

I tried to use the app to get a points voucher in store the other day. The app was down, the website told me vouchers weren’t available. In the end I left and went to Superdrug.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 26/03/2023 18:05

It's not just ordering online the stores are seriously lacking in stock and generally tatty and rundown. The make up displays are just so patchy with stock. I spoke to an assistant one day who said it is due to the level of shoplifting that they cannot put stuff out on display because even testers get stolen. DD reiterated this and said that if she goes to look at makeup in store she is immediately followed or staff hover which makes her uncomfortable so she will now ask that I go with her or we buy online. Our local store is often closed unexpectedly due to not having a pharmacist. It's such a shame these used to be great places to shop.

MrsMoastyToasty · 26/03/2023 19:32

They are ridiculously understaffed too. I know 2 people who have left (branches at opposite ends of the UK). The reasons they both gave was doing longer and longer hours to provide shopfloor cover for staff who had left before them and haven't been replaced.

I've just checked their careers page and they have 1800+ vacancies.

OldTinHat · 26/03/2023 19:45

I ordered fine last week but it arrived with additional stuff I hadn't ordered. I phoned them and they told me to keep it.

ChristmasCakeAndGin · 26/03/2023 19:46

I had an issue with my Christmas order where it took my (large) payment and didn't give me an order number. My bank said it was Boots issue. Boots said I should contact my bank.
It took many calls and nearly 2 months to get my money back.
Look at trustpilot - lots of people have had this issue.
Will never use them again!

TennisWithDeborah · 26/03/2023 22:36

It often crashes and I think I’ve failed to be given points on one or two occasions. It’s a poor site.

I go into the store now. The staff seem quite miserable apart from the young part-timers who are obviously students.

Sometimes, a discount or deal advertised on the shelf, doesn’t work at the till. I’m very careful to check the receipt now, because I’ve been overcharged twice over the past few months.

I like their meal deal and a lot of their own brand stuff.

Moonflower12 · 26/03/2023 22:50

@earsup

The same with ours. It has had a 'move round' and has big areas of empty space. Or shelves with nothing on them.

BCSurvivor · 11/07/2023 18:21

I'm having issues at the moment with the boots online tracking...or lack of!
Paid for next day delivery yesterday evening, supposedly being delivered tomorrow with DPD.
Sent me the DPD tracking number this morning after saying it had been despatched from the warehouse, but 10 hours later and the tracking number is still coming up as invalid!

BeverlyBrook · 12/07/2023 02:49

The boots app is utterly shit. The owners are looking to sell the company. So I expect they are not going to roll out a new website or app. Or new warehouse for that matter.

just before christmas i ordered black opium for a gift £52 ,went to collect ,they said it wasnt there. The money came out of my account. i tried to explain but couldnt get anywhere , i was never refunded the money!!!

RenoDakota · 12/07/2023 03:19

The one near me has about one thing on every shelf. If you're lucky.

I would threaten them with small claims court to get your money back. That is appalling

I live in a small village in Surrey, the Boots in my village is mainly there to dispense prescriptions, it sells only a few basic items, the larger Boots in my neighbouring town is larger but has poor choice and next to no staff, last time I went in there was no till open at the front and I had to queue at the pharmacy counter at the back of the store, only spotted two staff on duty, I get the impression they're just running the place down, the stores generally look shabby an dated, in contrast the local Superdrug is bright, modern, plenty of stock attractively presented and the staff and helpful and fully engaged. Such a pity....

SaccharineDream · 12/07/2023 20:45

I absolutely adore Boots and will miss them so much if they go!
They have been a huge part of my life, tbh, and have always bought my skin care, make up and bits and bobs there. The website is unfit for purpose though.

I've always found our region to have well stocked stores, and the staff are always lovely. It will be a shame to lose them, the points card is actually useful and they present a higher quality, more mature selection of goods than the more youth focused stores like superdrug, etc.

I really rate the no7 range so hope it continues if they change hands.

SaccharineDream · 12/07/2023 20:50

Most Superdrug stores seem a bit tacky to me, with less stock and a focus on cheaper throw away stuff. I can't really compare it to Boots, which does seem to cater to those of us who are happy to pay a bit more for decent quality items.

I also don't have to listen to crap pop music when I go in Boots, feeling like I've just walked in to a teen magazine sleepover party Grin with dazzle dust everywhere and busted make up testers. The poor staff always look pissed off and tired.
Superdrug have almost no provision for more mature women's products either, so it's either Boots or John Lewis.

Fromage · 12/07/2023 20:54

I've had problems with Boits since they charged £££ for the morning after pill and said women mught use it irresponsibly. 😠

WhereAreWeNow · 13/07/2023 06:21

I have always found the Boots website slow and glitchy. I still prefer shopping in Boots to Superdrug though because I can't stand the hard sell on the Superdrug card and random stuff that's on offer at the till in Superdrug. It drives me mad. They always seem affronted that I don't want the card or the half price perfume. Agree with previous poster that Superdrug feels like wandering into a teen sleepover!

EversoDetermined · 13/07/2023 06:52

I haven't used online to order items for ages but have been messed around a lot by their online flu jab booking system. I used to be in their contact lens scheme and despite leaving it at least 15 years ago they still automatically give me discounts at the till. Our local (small but not just a pharmacy) branch is shabby but well stocked and the staff are friendly and helpful. Superdrug OTOH the aisles are narrow, there is so much stuff packed in that it's hard to find anything and the (very few) staff ignore you apart from trying to reluctantly flog you perfume at the till.

I've just had a problem paying for my annual flu jab on the website after receiving a reminder letter that I can now book it! It just wouldn't accept my card details from Google Pay, so I had to manually retype them all in from scratch 🙄

Then I found out the price had gone up again too!

Passmeaplacard · 13/07/2023 07:24

Last order I received had a pair of used reading glasses including, not the best freebie
agree with others comments about the security guards, they just seem to follow you around

LadyBird1973 · 13/07/2023 08:54

My local Boots always looks like it's closing down! No new stock, big gaps on the shelves - it's miserable in there. But Boots used to be so good. And it closes every day for 2 hours at lunchtime, when people with jobs might like to pick up their prescriptions or buy other stuff!
