Help finding block heel Mary janes in a neutral colour?

I'd like some mary janes, double strap would be nice, with either a block heel or maybe flat. Everything seems to be black patent. I need them to go with a navy dress first off but will be put with other colours potentially. I'm struggling to find something in a neutral sort of colour!

I don't do heels so nothing too high, they need to be comfy. It's for 'going out out'.

Might help if you mention what it needs to go with? Colour/dress type?

Shoemadlady · 24/03/2023 22:19

Check Esska, bobbies and Sezanne xx

Ruthietuthie · 24/03/2023 22:28

Not the Mary Janes style, but I just ordered two pairs of shoes from Bobbies and the quality is gorgeous. They arrived promptly and really nicely packaged. I found they ran small.
Another thought, if want you want is something for dancing, what about an actual dance shoe? Like a latin or tango dance shoe?

Yes so initially they are to go with a simple navy dress, but I'd like them to be neutral enough to go with other things.

I would like timeless and not so fashion forward that they'll look dated in a year or so. Equally, I don't want to go the other way and head towards the vintage/40s look.

All the ones I like are £100 plus!

How old are you?

There are some truly ugly shoes being suggested. The exceptions are the Bobbies, La Redoute, Zara, the Doc Martens and these. The OP has said she doesn't want 90s throwback, anything which will go out of fashion and was aiming for a Parisian vibe.

The Debenhams, M&S and New Look are to my mind especially ugly. That sort of shoe was extremely fashionable when I was a teenager in the late 1970s and as OP said again in the 1990s, although they never really went away. I thought they were godawful then, even when they were supposed to be the height of fashion, and still are.

I came to say Carel Kina but I see you’re after something more budget friendly (me too, they’re my dream shoe!) Sorry I can’t help but I’ll be watching this thread with interest
