Blue dress green shoes?

Hi - have a wedding soon.

I'm wearing a long blue dress (awful pic attached - best I could find as I have had it a long time and can't find any retail images - the dress is nicer IRL, honest).

Previously have worn it with gold accessories (shoes and bag). But I fancy a change.

Would a turquoise green work? As per the attached pic of shoes?

Also if going for that colour shoe, would you opt for a matching bag or a different colour? Is matchy matchy out these days?

I'm clueless, help!

Hi I'm no style icon but I love those two colours together and those shoes are lovely 🥰

Stormydanielss · 21/03/2023 15:28

Ps I think I would do bag in same colour as shoes

picklemewalnuts · 21/03/2023 15:31

Absolutely!
I'd try for a patterned bag, with both colours in. But I'm not stylish by MN standards.

Thank you

Thank you! I will order the shoes when I get paid. I am hoping they'll be comfortable as I don't usually do heels and those are the prettiest colour I have seen. Everything else is sludge green or apple green!

I quite like these bags? But again clueless. Not sure if either is quite right.
I have also just realised I don't have a cover-up or anything to throw over my shoulders.

Argh, going out and getting dressed up is exhausting!! 😂

love the second bag! I think it would look lovely with the shoes and dress 😊

Stormydanielss · 21/03/2023 16:14

Pashmina to match. The second bag is lovely! You're gonna look fab

picklemewalnuts · 21/03/2023 16:15

Love the second bag! So versatile.

Shoulders... so tricky.

BlueDressGreenShoes · 21/03/2023 17:19

Thank you. I have ordered the second bag and also a gold shiny clutch (mainly because it was wildly reduced and I can't resist something shiny). I have also ordered the shoes as I am panicked that they will sell out! To hell with pay day. 🤣

For a cover-up I am wondering about a shiffon type cape? Something like one of these? I like the green colour but think probably the style of the blue one is more suitable?

I like all the things you’ve posted - Especially the shoes!

The colour of the chiffon might be the deciding factor. I'd be tempted to go with a colour in the bag, rather than attempt to match the dress.

Style wise, I prefer the back of the longer one. It may be a bit more elongating and slimming, if that's a factor for you. The first one might cut you off at the wrong point.

Lovely colours and they really work well together. I'd go for a smart blazer type jacket (that you'd wear again) over a pashmina. Think pashminas look really 2000s and can be a bit messy, plus they don't really keep you warm :-/

BlueDressGreenShoes · 21/03/2023 17:45

I did wonder about a blazer! I haven't worn one for years. 🤔

I don't fancy a pashmina/shawl - mainly because of it being fiddly. It's an all day wedding and I will be chasing my toddler and 6 year old all day. 🤣

Hence looking at capes that will hopefully stay put. Although yes not going to be warm! But we will be inside the vast majority of the day.

I agree re: matching colour of dress being a mistake unless it is spot on...
