Smile Direct Club teeth straightening

Has anyone used this company for home-based straightening?

My teeth, while not too bad, have definitely shifted over the years and I now have some light crowding at the font of my bottom teeth. With my top teeth, the lateral incisors (eg, the ones either side of my two front teeth) have moved quite a bit and are a bit snaggled looking.

I had been thinking about something like Invisalign but they don’t have a clinic near me.

Spotted an ad today for Smile Direct who post you out moulds, you do your own impressions, and then they send you back your alingers.

Has anyone used them and could share experiences good or bad?

From a quick look, it’s costing about €1,700 (I’m in Ireland) so an expensive gamble if they’re not good.

There were a lot of bad news stories about them recently, search smile direct bbc & you’ll see. I have crowded teeth too & would like them straightened but think you’re better off seeing a dentist in person- really not worth the risk.

I spoke to my friend about this just the other day (If they didn't live MILES away, I'd be going to them). I asked about Invisalign and Smile Direct. They told me to avoid SD at ALL costs. Said Invisalign is good, but with any dental work, especially ortho, to go to your dentist and not be tempted by other cheaper alternatives out there. They did not say anything bad about Invisalign, just said I'd need to see an approved clinic as it's not for everyone. FWIW, my teeth sound like yours.

I'm seeing my dentist next month so will be asking for a referral to Ortho.
