Bought some beautiful blush ink Dr Martins, but not sure what to wear them with. I'm 60, slight over weight and petite.

Long cargo style skirt and thick black tights?

Long cargo style skirt and thick black tights?

Not sure I could pull off that look, I carry my weight round my middle so skirts seem to make me look bigger.

V neck tunic, Sea Salt do some lovely ones, some thick wooly leggings/ tights, chunky funky earrings.

My3cents1 · 16/03/2023 14:35

Dresses/skirts with tights, leggings/ jumper, denim shorts, dungerees. I did and continue to love the student/grunge look, so anything goes.

I've an old pair of the deeper pink Doc Martens and often wear with this style pink cardigan over black leggings/jeans/jeggings & black tshirt. Makes me look taller and slimmer, a loose t shirt would hide the middle

Might be too pink and not enough 'blush' for your blush pink, but I did see Next have a lovely cable knit one www.next.co.uk/style/st066038/a84505#a84505

I've never had this look so may be difficult for me to pull off, will have to give it a go though.

Mine are black/burgundy rub off, and I wear them with barrel leg trousers - jeans, cords, moleskins. I'm dreading summer...

ColonelSpondleClagnut · 16/03/2023 14:54

I wear mine with really wide leg trousers which are finally back in fashion!

Craftycorvid · 16/03/2023 14:54

A smile!

Otherwise some great suggestions here to which I’d add a dungaree dress/pinafore or a sweater dress.

Life is bloody short, try something different, it’s just clothes….you may love it and surprise yourself. 😊

Absolutely whatever you like.
I have DM type boots in black and wear them with Lucy & Yak type dungarees, boilersuits, straightish mini pinafores, tunic style roll neck jumper dress (uniqlo), combats and carpenter jeans/pants, dungarees.

I have slightly smarter monkey boots and Toast Jade boots in burgundy rub off which I wear with most of the above and other dresses.

I'm quite a fan of Solovair
and if you like pink, have a look at these or these

KirstenBlest · 16/03/2023 22:28

I have the black dealer boots too.

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 17/03/2023 10:35

Just put an outfit n and then put the DMs on. You don’t have to “pull it off”, just wear it. DMs are totally neutral, even in pale pink, and they’ll look fine with anything.

If you’re not going to feel confident in them, send them back rather than waste the money.

Exactly this.

Look up 'styling dr martens' and ignore the age, height, slimness (or otherwise) and sex of the person wearing the outfit, just look for what works.
Look at sites like Toast and Margaret Howell (they sell their collaboration with solovair monkey boots and dealer boots) or Lucy and Yak.

Here is a 'styling white DMs' example, just think pink not white.

Oops, the mage is the Ava monkey boots, which are Toast x Solovair. DM do a monkey boot too, but Solovair have some pale pink ones, but mine are burgundy rub-off.

KirstenBlest · 17/03/2023 12:23

Something like this would look fab with pink DMs.

I’d go with a dress and woolly tights. I carry my weight round my middle and recently bought this Monsoon dress; it’s very flattering and would suit pink boots.

KirstenBlest · 17/03/2023 15:06

That looks lovely, @VenusClapTrap

LlynTegid · 17/03/2023 15:50

If skirts or dresses are not for you, black jeans and a top that is not black.

DoBeesEatPizza · 17/03/2023 17:58

I live in my bright pink DMs. I wear them with literally everything. Jeans, office trousers, dresses, skirts, shorts.

I once saw a little girl in the supermarket who didn’t like wearing her pink boots til she saw mine. She was so happy seeing a grown up in pink boots. Absolutely made my day.

Try not to give a stuff what other people think and wear them with whatever you want. You might want to look at Popsy. A pink booted person might like a nice Popsy - they are bright dresses.

Vidyashidlali · 17/03/2023 18:11

Where can I find good activity books for my 8 year old. Also, suggestions to buy books (academic books, fictions, etc)

KirstenBlest · 17/03/2023 18:36

@Vidyashidlali , probably best to delete your post and repost in Children's Books.

Hello - I'm another 60-something slightly round person who wears DMs. Mine are green suede, and I usually wear them with straight leg, slightly rolled up jeans, but also with wide cropped cords, and the occasional long full skirt.

Thank you I wear jeans like, and I'll have a look for some cords to try on.

Dungarees and boiler suits are not a good look for us short plump females. The black jeans sound good.
