Where does your teen boy shop? What does he wear?

DS15 has historically never been bothered about clothes and I’ve always bought him a bit of Nike/Champion etc when I’ve seen it. Recently he’s got much more into his appearance, does his hair, bought cool trainers, hates shopping though. I don’t think he has any inspiration beyond Nike joggers and a hoodie (I think this is pretty much teen boy uniform 😂) and I’d like to help. There’s doesn’t seem to be much between sports brands and then much more expensive designer! What does your boy wear/shop?

Yes to the hoodie and tracksuit trousers uniform! Mine likes JD sports, Sports Direct and also wears a lot of football strips.

CoffeeChocolateWine · 16/03/2023 08:47

Following for my 14yo DS. He's very much a Nike joggers, football shirt and hoodie kid. Mainly gets his clothes from JD Sports or Sports Direct! The occasional top from Hollister and River Island for something a bit smarter (shirts). I buy him basics from H&M or Next. Would love to know where others shop.

Okunevo · 16/03/2023 08:50

Tesco jeans, fatface cargo shorts, rapunai tshirts

Okunevo · 16/03/2023 08:52

Merino jumpers second hand from ebay, plain superdry or hollister hoodies

Apollaine · 16/03/2023 08:59

Nike joggers and hoodies here too. Black/ grey/ white mostly.....
Took him to Primark and he chose some cargoes (black!), a plain bomber jacket (black!) and some pink and yellow Simpson's socks....
Can you get your DS to look at something like Next online ? if he doesn't like going to the shops- they have a huge range of choices/ ideas/ price points/ labels....

FineThings · 16/03/2023 09:02

Mine likes Superdry but it is expensive so he has stuff from there as presents and usually Next for other things.

TheFormidableMrsC · 16/03/2023 09:26

Mine is not quite a teen but in teen sizes. ASOS is a good shout. Also Vinted for more labelled stuff at good prices. I also buy in Next and Sports Direct and H&M.

They usually aren’t interested until they are then I think letting them find their own way, I’ve bought many an item of clothing for it to go unworn because it’s not in or quite right or worn and friends say it’s not cool. Wate of money. I have 4 boys and they’ve all been pretty into sports gear, youngest isn’t yet but likes his brothers football strips.

they shop in, jd sports/sports direct
Nike, gym shark, under armour, 11 degrees, north face - not so much now with this. Stone island - hate this brand but it’s mostly sporty type stuff I’ve got 4 boys 21-12 and I’ve just let them find their own way but if he wants to go shopping together or look online then that’s nice and you can spend some time but likely will cost you a few pounds 🙂

CalmDownBoris72 · 16/03/2023 16:33

I’ve got 2 teenage boys, one who’s into his appearance and the other couldn’t care less. Neither are into sports brands outside of sport so my go to is H&M, maybe urban outfitters and ASOS for online stuff.

jizzlord · 16/03/2023 16:38

Mostly online - likes carhartt huf taion obey loser market Ralph Lauren and Nike. He also buys from the outlet village near here and, vinted and thrift

PeekAtYou · 16/03/2023 16:40

Ds isn't keen on logos on clothes so wears plain clothes from a variety of places like Primark and supermarkets. The lack of logos means that he can get away buying from uncool shops.
If money was no object I think he'd buy clothes from JD and Boohoo. He hates shopping in real shops so trying on at home appears. A word of warning - boohoo charges for returns unless you have a delivery subscription. ASOS seem to have a good variety for young men too.

BeaLola · 16/03/2023 16:44

My DS 15 spends longer on his hair than I do ! He is into his clothes over last 6 months - wears a lot of hoodies, Nike tops, - he likes Hoodrich & Mercier (expensive) - he randomly likes other things eg cheap plain gap grey hoodie from Gap and beige chinos from H & M

He likes the merino jumper from M&S - in black of course 🤣

Foot wise - Nike Air force in black k or white - latter he even keeps clean (!)

AnnPerkins · 16/03/2023 16:48

Yes to hoodies, no to joggers. DS wears jeans (a pair of Levi's inherited from friend's older son, Esprit, Next), band or other music-related tshirts, plain hoodies, DMs or Vans. Not interested in sports brands really. There's a lot of black.

DelilahBucket · 16/03/2023 16:48

Baggy hoodies and t-shirts (H&M and River Island are good as they do XS in menswear). Skinny jeans or cargo pants are the clothes of choice at the moment. He doesn't wear sportswear unless he's going out on his bike or for slouching around at home.

Cherrypie32 · 16/03/2023 17:28

Thanks for all the replies. It’s probably sports brands all the way then, although DD has advised me that Champion is ‘clap’ 😂 there’s some bits I like the sound of but don’t think he would, the merino jumpers for instance. Next is a good shout for a browse and to get some steer on what he will go for but I feel like it will be another variation on Grey hoodie, black joggers. Trying to steer him away from the Off White, Essentials influencer type designer 😬

My son likes next stuff especially the jumpers has one in every colour. But get most clothes from jd.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 16/03/2023 17:38

H&M, Carhartt, Palace, Nike etc. Mainly wears Joggers and a hoodie.

Cyclingmummy1 · 17/03/2023 18:07

DS15. H&M for hoodies and trousers as they do long and thin. FatFace and White Stuff for dressier t shirts. Given the choice, he'd wear shorts all the time. He's really not interested.

savvy7 · 17/03/2023 18:54

DS doesn't buy a lot but has purchased from Urban Outfitters, H&M, Super dry and is currently trying to sting me for a Carhartt jacket.
