Liberty Beauty drop - is it worth it?

On the face of it, it seems like a good deal.

What are the boxes like ?

Can I use the credit towards one of their advent calendars and if I dint have enough credit saved can I top it up?

I'm very tempted..

I'd say so, yes. You get quite a few samples. The money you put in collates over the year and you just spend on whatever you want. If you wanted the advent calendar it's a good way to save for it. You can add extra money if you haven't saved enough.
It's a nice treat. I got a lovely necklace down from 200 to 65 in January, so that's tucked away for my daughter for xmas. Free delivery aswell.

listsandbudgets · 14/03/2023 10:00

Thank you.

I thought you could only spend on beauty so wondering if I'm wrong since you got a necklace

You can spend on anything. I recently emailed to ask if I could use my credit for a piercing in their Maria Tash concession. They confirmed I can (although I haven't actually done it yet)

The last box I had was 😱. There was an air freshener which I put in my car, we were gagging, threw it out but can still smell and taste it. A mud cleanser that went everywhere. A perfume that smelled like a dead rat. However am using it almost as a savings account, might get the advent calendar.

Zoetrope1 · 14/03/2023 10:33

Definitely worth it if you think there’s enough Liberty stock that you’d want to spend your credit on. As others have mentioned, you can spend it on anything - clothes, fabrics etc, you’re not limited to beauty.

To see what the previous boxes contained check out Planning with Crystal’s unboxings link here

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 14/03/2023 10:39

Yes, worth it, I’d say. It’s no problem for me if the things in the box aren’t always to my taste because they cost nothing and occasionally I do really like one of them.

I’m a regular Liberty sale shopper anyway so having a bit of credit there is always useful.

I often buy things for tween DD that end up being hugely reduced because they’re quite “young” items that most actual young people can’t afford at full price. She loves her incredibly bright orange satin baseball cap 🧡

Lndnmummy · 14/03/2023 13:46

I don't think it is worth it and will be cancelling

ReadingIsFundamental · 14/03/2023 13:53

I think it’s worth it - I view it as a savings account so that I can buy something in the sale, or some Le Labo, or the advent calendar. The little freebies are just a lovely bonus. Although, I agree on the air freshener -it was absolutely vile, gave me a headache and I had to throw it out.

I have about £240 saved at the minute and am planning on looking at the handbags in the next sale. I got a pair of ray-bans in the last one, they were down to £40 and felt free because I used my vouchers!

BluebellBlueballs · 14/03/2023 14:06

Yes it's worth it if you think of a sort of savings scheme with some free beauty boxes

You can spend the credit on anything liberty sells

I git a necklace fir my bday now saving up to put towards the advert calendar.

The boxes themselves are so-so

MissingMoominMamma · 14/03/2023 14:13

The last box was the only one I haven’t liked. I got a revolting perfume sample. Other perfumes have been gorgeous.

I use the money to save for the advent calendar, which I split - keep some/give some to my nieces as presents.

I did buy a lovely cashmere beanie, but my son lost it 😫.

listsandbudgets · 14/03/2023 17:14

Thank you. I've signed up and I'll see how it goes. I wanted to get the advent calander this year so not much to lose either way

I've just received the January box. I'm looking forward to trying it out - certainly full of items I've never thought of buying. not sure about the air freshner though . Perhaps I'll put it in the dogs cage she could do with freshening up Grin

If I've had the January box though having just joined does that mean i now won't get the April one?

OP posts:
Zoetrope1 · 21/03/2023 14:31

nope you’ll get the April box too!

ChristinaAlber · 21/03/2023 14:35

I was just about to cancel then read you could spend the credit on anything - didn't know that! It is worth it if you buy stuff from Liberty anyway, the problem is over the years they've stopped stocking a lot of products I used to buy from them eg Eve Lom cleanser. Agree the last box was the pits though and what drove me to the verge of cancellation!! Air freshener is sitting unopened in the bathroom and now I've read this it shall go straight into the bin.

Chocolateteabag · 21/03/2023 20:56

Stick the bits you don't want on Vinted?

I love the fact I have free delivery and it's usually next day or 48 hours - pretty good for sending last min presents to my female friends/ family when I've forgotten

And I got a pair of Astley Clarke earrings for £40 down from £115 (and they are back up at that price) which I used my credit to buy

But it is annoying when you like something and they then stop stocking it!!

listsandbudgets · 28/03/2023 22:42

I think solved the air freshener problem. I dont have a car so put it in the wardrobe. Last night I could smell a really fresh quite pleasant smell all over the house. However, when I opened the wardrobe I nearly choked IT STUNK..so I've taken air freshener and left it propped up in landing bookcase. House smells really fresh. its not for confined spaces, it seems it's for whole houses!!

I pinned mine up in my office and the whole SLT corridor smells gorgeous rather than sweaty police boots.
I bought another one from vinted to hang outside of my wardrobe door and my bedroom smells lush.

Sell it! Don't waste it.

Fluffodils · 29/03/2023 06:42

Omg I'm going to sign up.

ChristinaAlber · 29/03/2023 10:27

It's actually in my wardrobe now but I have such a bad cold I can't smell it!

Swiftbushome · 29/03/2023 11:34

Anyone know roughly when we can expect the next box? I know it's due April but they're normally mid month, right?

Laiste · 29/03/2023 12:55

Just having a look at this.

Question: £20 a month seems ok, but ''it's like a bank account'' - is it though? Can you take the money back out at all? Or do you have to spend it with Liberty?

Otherwise it's more like a store card. But always in credit.

I do fancy the boxes though ...

Swiftbushome · 29/03/2023 13:01

Well I haven't tried to take the money out so.i don't know for sure but no I dont think you can. I think it's just saving up store credit.

Swiftbushome · 29/03/2023 13:02

Sort of like buying gift cards I guess

Laiste · 29/03/2023 13:05

Thank you.
Yes, it is like gift cards i guess.
