What hair colour is this?!

Bonus points if you know whether it’s potentially achievable after a hairdresser has done a really crappy highlight job a few weeks ago 😞My natural hair colour is similar to this and I wondered if I could stick a box dye over my horrible golden warm blonde I’ve got now (the opposite of what I asked for!) to get back to something more like it. Can’t bear warm tones in my hair though so not sure if darkening with dye is a no go?!

thanks!

Agree its medium ash brown but looks like a bit of bayalage on the ends

floppybit · 14/03/2023 13:54

I dye my hair this colour and use light ash brown or dark ash blinds- the medium ash brown shades are always really dark

floppybit · 14/03/2023 13:54

*dark ash blonde

Pegfriedrice · 14/03/2023 16:59

@floppybit any brands or shades you particularly like? Thanks!

I like L'Oréal preference Zurich cool iridescent very light brown

floppybit · 14/03/2023 17:16

It doesn't come out that light, comes out more cool medium brown

Achieving this precise colour can be very difficult even when done professionally, depending on the natural pigment of your hair. If it’s warm, you will not achieve this colour without removing the natural pigment first. I tried for years and gave up. Just found a better hairdresser to do my highlights instead 😂
still love the idea though…

I agree box dyes are always darker than you think, so I would suggest dark ash blonde (level 7) to achieve that colour. That's having used that colour myself in most of the popular brands including L'Oreal and Garnier.

As a pp said though, the ashy tone will be quite temporary and fade to brassy if your hair colour is naturally warm.

StrawHatOnTheParcelShelf · 14/03/2023 22:53

On second thought have you tried just toning the shit out of your hair to get rid of the warm tones? Maybe start with a good purple shampoo left on for ages, and move onto one of the silver toners in a box if needed. Add a conditioning treatment.

Pegfriedrice · 14/03/2023 22:59

I’ve just today bought a really heavy duty purple mask and will try leaving it on for twice as long next time. My natural hair is medium/ dark ash blonde so it’s really the highlights making it look warmer which is annoying. Might just have to keep toning it and grow out the highlights to start again. I’ll try to attach a pic of my hair after first attempt with the purple mask. Don’t think it was on long enough but it has helped I think.

Well it may not be what you want but it looks lovely! Very smooth and healthy, and not as warm as I was expecting from your description.

Viggooooh · 14/03/2023 23:03

That looks lovely and not warm at all (and i am obsessed with not having warm tones in my hair)

Pegfriedrice · 15/03/2023 08:28

the blue/ purple mask has toned it down definitely. I’ll attach another pic of the before…

It’s now a murky dull blonde though in real life. But I think I’m too scared to stick a box dye over it and potentially need to spend £££ fixing it all. So disappointing!

What are you on about? Your hair looks lovely and I see no warmth or murkiness… seriously 😳 I wish my hair looked like this! Do not put any dye on it. It’s lovely!

TheYearOfSmallThings · 17/03/2023 12:06

That is a lovely colour! You should stick with it for a bit before changing it.

Dark mouse.

About a 6 in hair colour

It's the new mushroom colour that is supposedly really fashionable at the moment.

Notmyyearthisyear · 20/03/2023 19:23

That is not what my mushrooms look like 😂😂

Mushroom brown hair is a trend look
