Footwear to make jeans smarter

Casually I wear jeans with trainers, but for a more smart look ie if going out for dinner, what footwear would you wear with jeans?

For context I am a petite hourglass and find slightly cropped straight leg jeans or wide leg jeans suit me best.

I'm happy to wear a slight heel. Would love to see how you style jeans for smart wear.

Lovely leather ballet flats, pretty sandals in summer. Sometimes block heels if it’s a night out. In winter I wear boots with a chunky heel and the jeans turned up

I think boots are what I'm after but I can't seem to find the right ones. Even a scroll through Pinterest hasn't helped much. I have Chelsea boots both flat and heeled, but it doesn't look right. Maybe I need sock boots?
