Hair straightener recommendations? GHD Duet?

This is probably a common post but what hair straighteners would anyone recommend please for long thick hair? I had thought of trying the GHD Duet ones as they dry and straighten too and I don't have lots of time with young kids but am not sure if they are any good. Would really welcome recommendations. Thanks!

Cloud 9 wide plate. The actual best ever

Lostmarblesfinder · 11/03/2023 20:12

I haven’t tried that yet but I have a revlon pro wide flat brush (not a volumiser one) that on a whim I bought after seeing recommendations on here I think, it is fantastic and very cheap compared to the ghd one. I have a traditional ghd which I use for minutes after if I want it to be straight straight but honestly that is rare these days.

I got these recently and really like them, they work just as well as my old GHDs Smile

I just treated myself to the Duets. Loving them so far!

GHD platinum straighteners have been a game changer for me.

Addictedtoshoes · 11/03/2023 21:37

I love the new Ghd duet.

GhD platinum for me - thick long hair

L’Oreal Steam Pod. I have very long, thick hair and have never been able to get my hair straight. I can do the whole lot in ten minutes with my Steam Pod.

hellsbells99 · 11/03/2023 23:52

I have the cloud 9 wide plates too

kirinm · 12/03/2023 00:05

The GHD thing is really heavy and takes a while. My DS is a hairdresser and was given one by GHD and he thinks it's pretty rubbish.

amaretti1999 · 12/03/2023 08:38

My hairdressers have switched to Cloud 9 from GHD.

mama2girls0 · 12/03/2023 14:57

Thanks so much all. I would love to be able to curl my hair slightly with them too...are these ones good for that?

If you want to curl don’t get a wide plate. I’d get an original. My preference is cloud 9 over GHD - I have both and my GHD smaller plates don’t get hot enough to do anything to my thick long hair. My cloud 9s are too wide to flick over. Best for me to curl is a wand really! If you want to do both definitely don’t get a duet they’re too wide.

Love my Loreal Steampod, straightens much better than my old GHD's
