Dp has pointed out I need a backpack for carrying my work laptop and kit. He is right it's v heavy in my tote bag.
Dd2 was horrified....not a rucksack mummy!! You're not buying it from mountain warehouse!!!

I have seen both the above brands which I quite like. Leaning toward roka in pale grey right now but any other recommendations of a non camping backpack that will save my spine a bit and look stylish? Happy to spend £100 or a bit more but think £150 is the limit. I will need it forever....

Would the medium finchley fit laptop charger and headset as well as small laptop? I am nearly sold!

I have This one

Jumping on this rather than start a new one... I need a backpack that can carry my laptop, but also things for an overnight stay. Change of clothes, toiletries, GHDs. I travel very light but it still seems too much for most standard laptop backpacks. Any recommendations??

I have a Roka but actually prefer my Kipling. But both bags work fine.

The Rains one I linked will fit all that in. It's so spacious.

Why do you all seem to have the Roka Finchley 🤔 I thought the Bantry or Canfield looked nicer. What am I missing?

oceanbleu · 13/03/2023 06:59

@atthebottomofthehill I did try the Bantry but I need side pockets! For coffee/water bottle. Or things for easy access. Also Canfield is really similar to the Finchley, however Finchley has a longer pocket on the front which I really like to keep books or paperwork in separate when I have lunch or change of clothes in the bag for example.

I've recently bought the Kaito from the below as well as the accessories bag. DH was so impressed with the quality that he bought the Commuter bag. Also eco friendly.

I have a Roka backpack and it's great for my laptop.

My medium Roka Finchley has just arrived, it's massive, I love it!

I got a Gino Ferrari one from the men's section in TKMaxx and I travelled home for 10 days and didn't want to pay extra baggage so took that, as I already had it for going into the office. I got in my work laptop and charger and adapter plug, two pairs of jeans, three tshirts, two cashmere jumpers, all underwear and socks, kindle, make-up and toiletries, jewellery, wallet, phone, charger etc. It has compression straps at the sides to help squish stuff. It's very plain and all black, but I like that personally.

pastypirate · 22/04/2023 12:22

My Roka Finchley is now in use each day for work. Thought I should update I love it and my back and shoulder are much happier. It took a little while to reduce the junk I carry but the bag is so grown up and sleek it made me want to declutter and make everything pretty.

My only critique is that it's quite slim front to back so laptop chargers and plugs take up a lot of room.

It feels feather light compared to the big tote I had and it's so stylish I even put it on both shoulders and didn't feel like I was about to trek across Dartmoor...

I bought it in mist which is lovely but I should have chosen a darker colour as it's getting grubby and I'm a bit precious about that kind of thing.

Dp thinks it's amazing and a huge improvement.

I found this thread so so helpful I really appreciate it xx

I have a Proviz Relect 36. I'm not a cyclist, but it was the only one I could find with a waist strap that didn't scream "hill walker". I like the reflection - stops careless drivers trying to run me over! (And cyclists think I must be a cyclist).
