Rust coloured lipstick reccomendations? (pic included)

I'm clueless when it comes to make-up - anyone got a recommendation for a non-drying, rust coloured lipstick like the one in this picture?

I got a colour analysis and was recommended this lipstick: www.houseofcolour.co.uk/shop/l5

I'm not a big lipstick wearer, but I was quite convinced by the before and after pictures. Without lipstick on I've got very skin coloured lips, so it's definitely an improvement.

Anyway, I'd just buy this one, but I don't like the formula of it. It dried my lips out and quickly looked flaky.

Love the colour, I too would like a lipstick that shade.

Nestle by Clinique in their pop lipsticks is quite similar, but I’ve got a horrible feeling it might be either discontinued or in short supply! I wear it everyday. I got my one from Asos in their sale recently.

Here -

It’s more rust coloured than it looks here.

Xrays · 08/03/2023 18:31

Google the colour in google images to see what I mean.

Maduixa · 08/03/2023 19:01

That looks very similar to H&M's cream lipstick in Fareham Brick. Which is a less expensive option but I've been wearing it for years and really like the formula - the packaging may be on the cheap side. Anyway, if there's an H&M with a "Beauty" department (not just the cheapo cosmetics at check-out) near you, they usually have testers.

H&M also have a similar one called I'm A Little Rusty which is just a touch brighter and warmer, but from a quick search it looks like that one might be discontinued in the UK.

no7 used to do one called conker.

moregarlic · 08/03/2023 19:54

Thanks all - I'll have a look at the suggestions. Loving the discounted Clinque link 😀

Just out of interest OP what "colour" did you come out as from your analysis?

Mrsvyvyan · 08/03/2023 21:47

Maybe velvet rain by Lisa Eldridge? Mine looks like that.

MuddledMindy · 08/03/2023 21:57

Charlotte Tilbury stoned rose

moregarlic · 09/03/2023 16:13

@dangermousesfriend true autumn / autumn leaf. It really surprised me, I thought I was a summer! Pale in winter, tanned + freckly in summer and natural golden-y bits in my brown hair, but I have blue eyes which I thought autumns definitely did not. It was such an interesting experience. Have you had it done?

I've ordered this (www.amazon.co.uk/REVLON-Super-Lustrous-Cr%C3%A8me-Lipstick/dp/B006VRSF4Y?th=1) because it's prime-able and I'm impatient, but will pop into town on the weekend and check out the clinique one in person.

Charlotte Tilbury Stoned Rose or lipstick queen in nude coral. Searching terms like Rusty red, burned coral or brick red will help. Gucci does a lovely one too. Cant remember name will link when i get home

Littlemiss74 · 09/03/2023 19:09

Following for ideas

lindyloo57 · 09/03/2023 21:14

@moregarlic hi, I have the same colouring as you, I have blue eyes was blonde as a child, but went mousey in teens, I have some red in my hair, but thought I was a summer as I had blonde hair, I never suit pink lipstick, always suit peach, rusts, reds, as long as they aren't dark colours. I'm going to order that lipstick too.

haribonoyoudont · 09/03/2023 21:27

I love chilli ~ max factor

StrawHatOnTheParcelShelf · 10/03/2023 01:35

I wear Mac Chili which looks a lot like that.

I caught up with a friend this week and she was wearing something very similar but a bit more 'rusty' so I asked her about it. It was Revlon's Rum Raisin 535.

IDontWantToBeAPie · 10/03/2023 10:02

Hmmm

Mac Marrakech

Quitelikeacatslife · 10/03/2023 10:04

Following this as I love these colours, still mourning no7 under the sun

moregarlic · 10/03/2023 10:08

@lindyloo57 From what I've read since, it actually all has much more to do with your undertones than your individual features like hair or eye colour (which is what I originally thought). The current colours thread is a good read - I tried this just for fun and it did mostly come up as autumn for me: colorwise.me/self-analysis

@StrawHatOnTheParcelShelf thanks for asking!

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone - the one I ordered arrives at some point today, so I'll of course update with another dodgy up-close 😂

@moregarlic maybe I will take the test, I know I look better with gold not silver as much, I do like black, not grey so much, I've always put myself as neutral when buying foundation, never been 100%happy with the shades of estee lauder always inbetween shades. Now I use Eborian cc cream and mix the 2 shades, and I get my perfect shade. As I said no pink lipstick, I have checked some of the shades people recommended on here, but worried they look a little dark, let me know how you get on with any new shades you buy.

moregarlic · 10/03/2023 10:53

@lindyloo57 if you suit gold that sounds like you'd be warm, so either an Autumn or a Spring. If you do take the test, make sure the pics you use have good lightning. I played around with a few different pics and I'd say 75% of the time got some variation on autumn. Pink lipstick looks terrible on me....didn't stop me in the 00s though 😂
