What to put with this Reiss jumper?

I’ve just bought this jumper. It’s flattering and I love it. I was planning to team it with a pair of black skinny fit trousers that I already own, but they look bloody awful with it. Mainly because I’ve put on a bit of weight since I bought them, but also the style is all wrong, and dated, and I think I need wider fitting trousers.

The trouble is I’m quite short, at 5’3”, and an overweight size 10-12. I don’t have a waist. Wide trousers make me look a bit dumpy and I’ve never found any I like. Any suggestions? Thanks

A black maxi or pencil skirt (tucked in)? I think I would struggle to style it to be honest.

Those cigarette trousers could work! Thank you. Tucking in anything is out of the question; my middle is not good.

As much as I love reiss clothes, they are made for people with a long torso. Maybe a belt might help instead of tucking it in?

I can’t wear belts either. Anything that draws attention to my middle is out. I need to wear tops over my bottoms and distract by focussing attention on the neck (which this jumper does). My question is, what trousers/skirt to put with it!

I'm a similar size/shape and I'd wear a slip dress underneath it, in black or perhaps a dark khaki.

I would wear either black cigarette pants like the ones linked
Or wide leg black trousers
Or a long black pleated skirt
Or a long black midi skirt

wish I hadn’t looked as I LOVE that jumper and can’t afford it 😭

I would wear it with skinny jeans (I know they’re not in but I like them) or flares. Not sure about skirts. Possibly a tartan mini.

Hmm long black pleated skirt is tempting… but they tend to make me look massive. Plumo has a box pleat one and the material (poly yarn, whatever that is) looks heavy; I wonder if that would be better than ones I’ve tried in the past? You have to pay for returns though, which always irritates.

Petite range black wide leg trousers, maybe try M&S or next? Tuck it in
