Balayage & Hair toner

Hey everyone,

I come from another country and I used to do balayage technique in my hair for many years.

Whenever I was going to the hairdresser after the balayage he was applying a toner in my hair.

I have tried balayage twice in the Uk and both times the hairdresser just washed my hair in the end without any toner application.

Is it the norm or I just was unlucky with the salons I tried?

I specifically mentioned to the hairdresser that I don’t want any “orange” undertones!

As a note my hair are brown and the balayage highlights are blondish.

I am a bit disappointed as I feel the toner does all the trick!

When I have my Balayage done, I have to add the Toner as a separate service to the booking. I pay £150 for the Balayage and the Toner costs £30 extra. I think adding the Toner is worth it though.

I always have toner- I've never had to ask. Just make the toner is included when you book.

How often you get the Toner topped up? I have my Balayage done about 4 times a year and get the Toner topped up in between after about 6 weeks. I spend about £800 a year on maintaining my Balayage, but I think it is worth it as I am a real Balayage fan and my husband says it looks really good on me.

They never do the toner how I like it - I like very ash tones and my hair is blonde, then lightened to blend the greys. I use Wella Illumina and it works well and gives a lovely shine.

I redo my toner at home. I use purple to eliminate the yellow
