Favourite budget and spendy mascara

I wear 2000 calorie mascara most days, and I love it, does the job, stays put, and then comes off with remover ! I ran out of it today and got me thinking are there any other budget options I should try ?

BC (before chldren / cost of living increases ..) I used love Estée Lauder/ Sisley mascaras but those days are long gone really!

What s your favourite budget and spendy mascara ?

I find masterpiece max better than 2000 calorie. I can’t fault it. It never gives me panda eyes, you seem to be able to build it up and it never goes clumpy. I’ve had all sorts of expensive ones ( Estée Lauder, Charlotte tilbury, Mac, YSl) and never liked them.

AlwaysFoldingWashing · 05/03/2023 21:04

I like the Nars, Hourglass and Ester Lauder ones for a treat but for everyday i like the loreal ones, especially the gold tube

OffToThatPlace · 05/03/2023 21:04

Essence mascara is under a fiver and just as good, if not better, than expensive maacara.

MAC STACK

Budget - maybelline bounce. You’ll have lots of recommendations for Sky High but I just couldn’t get on board with it.

Expensive - YSL faux cils

Cococomellonn · 05/03/2023 21:09

I recently discovered the Maybelline Colossal Curl Bounce Mascara and it's definitely one of the best mascaras I've ever used.

I used to like Dior and YSL but I wouldn't buy them now as I think the Maybelline one is genuinely just as good, I'd not better. Don't like the Nars one (red tube)

enidblythe · 05/03/2023 21:30

Oh maybe will try that mayblliene bounce - nice to get recommendations.
I wonder if more expensive mascara is worth it really, seeing as they have a short enough shelf life - I read somewhere 6 months, I m not good about replacing a lot of my make up but mascara needs replacing I find

I can only use tubing mascaras and I've yet to find the Wilko's one in stock to try.

Spendy - Clinique tubing mascara. It's my every day and I am very grateful it exists!!

leccybill · 05/03/2023 21:56

Budget - I love Rimmel Kind and Free. In fact I like the whole range.

nc1013 · 05/03/2023 23:42

@FuckingHateRats I swear by tubing mascara too. Do you know if any other than Clinique or Estée Lauder?

headache · 05/03/2023 23:48

Place marking - I’m using the new Boots one just now was using Too Face Better than Sec and both are running off and leaving me with panda eyes by midday! I look terrible. I need one that stays.

Rebel2 · 06/03/2023 00:32

Budget - essence lash princess, green writing tube
Luxury - tarte lights camera lashes

coconutshy1 · 06/03/2023 09:05

Budget: Maybeline Lash Sensation
Spend: Hypnose Lancome

I have long straight eyelashes.

coconutshy1 · 06/03/2023 09:06

I replace my mascara every 3 months and I wear mascara maybe 3-4 times a week. I find they dry out and smell funny otherwise.

I think it's worth listing what type of eyelashes you have because it's like skin or feet or hair we all have different things going on that need different features.

Cococomellonn · 06/03/2023 12:22

Honestly OP when I tried the Bounce I bought a few to give to my mum and a couple of friends as I was so impressed and you can often get them on offer.

Donnashair · 06/03/2023 12:26

Budget one, is a L’Oréal one.

But I do usually buy chantecalle faux cils longest lash.

It’s really expensive for a mascara but it includes a growth formula. It’s fab mascara and my lashes are definitely a lot longer and thicker. I rarely use it on my bottom lashes as they end up too long.

LadyOfTheCanyon · 06/03/2023 12:27

Budget- Collection in the red tube.

Spendy - Lancôme Hypnose all day long.

enidblythe · 06/03/2023 19:51

I loved Clinique tubing one, but it s a but spendy for me at the moment.
Going to pick up the bounce one this week to try.

King straight lashes here too, would love to give the revitalise a try too but it s way out of budget

Another vote for Maybelline here, any of them, except the sky high

Daffodil77 · 06/03/2023 20:07

@nc1013 Hannah Martin consistently recommends the Trish McEvoy tubing mascara whenever asked.

Beauty pie have just released one. I've not used either so can't personally vouch for them though.

I'm sure I've had a Mac one before that was a tubing one.

I don't tend to spend more than £10 on mascara as it.is used up so quickly. Plus I don't find I need to. Max factor used to be my go to but I tried a revolution one (5x I think) and thought that was good. For me the thing that makes the most difference is using eyelash curlers

So1invictus · 06/03/2023 20:24

Budget- the Essence green writing mentioned above. (currently using L'Oreal Telescopic which is good- BUT goes all brittle and clumpy during the day)

Spendy: Dior Pump and Volume.
