Wigs, hair toppers, etc, anyone use them?

I recently had a horrendous allergic reaction to hair dye leaving me with severe and very noticable psoriasis on my scalp and neck. I'm on a complicated course of treatment for it but in the mean time I can neither dye not lighten my hair and along with the obvious embarrassing flakes I now have grey roots.

I feel and look dreadful and have a customer facing job that I can't look a wreck for.

I've been looking at temporary solutions to cover it up - wigs and toppers. Budget for this isn't much but I need something.

Does anyone have any tips or advice?

Does anyone else wear them that could make me feel better?

My mum wears a topper sometimes. She has a bald patch in the middle of her head and if she’s meeting friends or going out, she puts it on. She’s really happy with it.

My DD11 has worn a wig full time for many years now due to alopecia.

My only real tip is to buy the best quality you can afford, and real hair not synthetic - especially if you're recovering from an allergic reaction.

Any questions I'll try to help 🙂

Yes, this! My mum has a natural hair topper that matches really well (thought not identical) to her coloured hair and highlights. We had to go to a hair extensions shop and see them in person rather than order online.

My friend wears a wig as she has alopecia, she also has a lovely wig shop & helps many women who need wigs or toppers. She is in North Derbyshire if that is near you, pm me if you need the details.
